Campgrounds and RV parks near Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix, QC

Water activities dominate the area. The Lac-Simon sector has a 2 km sand beach with supervised swimming, water sports on the lake, and roughly 4 km² of adjacent woodland for walking and cycling. On-site features include playgrounds, a giant trampoline, climbing rocks and slides, with canoe, kayak, paddleboard and pedal-boat rentals available at the registration centre. At Plaisance, the appeal is wildlife. The park sits on a network of marshes and islands along the Ottawa River, and close to 240 bird species have been identified, including the spring Canada goose migration. Paddlers can explore Baie de la Pentecôte and the surrounding bays, or head up the Petite-Nation River. The Chutes du Moulin waterfall, with a drop of over 35 metres, and the Plaisance-to-Thurso cycling path add land-based options. Parc Omega, a drive-through wildlife park near Montebello, is popular with families travelling with children.

Camping season in the Outaouais runs roughly mid-May through mid-October, with peak demand in July and August. La Marina de Montebello typically operates from mid-May to mid-October, and Centre touristique du Lac-Simon and Parc national de Plaisance both run similar mid-spring to mid-fall campground seasons. SEPAQ partners with Vélo Québec on a Bienvenue cyclistes network of touring-cyclist sites useful for shoulder-season trips. Spring brings the famous Canada goose migration at Plaisance and high water in the marshes, along with blackflies and mosquitoes in May and June. Summer is warm and humid, with thunderstorms common and lakes warm enough for swimming by July. At Lac-Simon, activity guides are on site through the summer high season, so family programming peaks in those weeks. Fall delivers strong leaf colour through late September and early October. During winter, Parc national de Plaisance remains accessible by foot or snowshoe, but the campground and most services close for the season. At Lac-Simon in winter, the beach pavilion serves as the visitors centre, and cross-country skiing, tubing, skating, snowshoeing, snowmobiling and ice fishing are all available.

The Outaouais is a francophone region. Park signage and reservations are bilingual at SEPAQ sites, but smaller private campgrounds and village services often operate primarily in French. Cell coverage is generally good near Montebello and along Route 148, and patchier on back roads toward Lac-Simon and Duhamel. Site styles vary widely. The Lac-Simon campground is set in a plantation of white pines and deciduous trees, with a mix of two-service and three-service sites, semi-serviced sites, ready-to-camp tents, and a small dedicated RV area for camper vans. Plaisance offers more than 100 sites for tents and recreational vehicles, all in the Presqu'Îles sector, with a mix of unserviced, one-service and two-service options. Dogs are only allowed at certain Lac-Simon sites under specific conditions. Recreational drone use is not permitted at SEPAQ establishments. Pack insect repellent through early summer and a layer for cool lake-effect nights.
