Campgrounds and RV parks near Rougemont, QC

Rougemont is best known as Quebec's apple country. The region is home to some of Quebec's most iconic cideries, with everything from hard and soft ciders to sparkling ciders and ice cider, a Quebec specialty made from apples that are frozen on the tree. Cidrerie Michel Jodoin sits at the base of Mont Rougemont and is a family-owned apple orchard offering a boutique, guided cider-house tours, and a hiking trail up the mountain. Vignoble et Cidrerie Coteau Rougemont and Domaine De Lavoie also produce wines and ciders on the south flank of the hill. La Route des Champs is a linear regional park that connects Chambly to Granby, with a paved bike path that gives views of Mont Rougemont and Mont Yamaska. Parc national du Mont-Saint-Bruno and Parc national de la Yamaska are both within an easy day trip for hiking and swimming.

The camping season in this part of Quebec is short and tightly tied to the agricultural calendar. Many private campgrounds do not open before mid-May and close from Labour Day in September through mid-October at the latest. Late May through June brings apple blossoms on Mont Rougemont and mild days, with cool nights that still call for a furnace or extra bedding. July and August are peak season: warm, humid, and busy, especially on weekends and during Quebec's construction holiday in late July, when local families take their main vacation and private campgrounds fill quickly. Fall is the marquee season here. Rougemont is an agritourism hub in the Cœur de la Montérégie region, and the apple, vegetable, and grape harvest season runs through the fall as the trees turn colour. September and early October draw heavy day-trip traffic for pick-your-own orchards and cider tastings, so booking an RV site well ahead is wise. By late October most private campgrounds close for the winter, and the town quiets down until spring.

Campgrounds in the Rougemont area are generally low-key, family-oriented sites rather than resort parks. Expect a mix of grassy and wooded pads, picnic tables, fire rings, and shared washrooms with showers. Service levels vary site by site: some loops offer full hookups with thirty-amp power, water, and sewer, while rustic loops may have only partial service or none at all. Travelers in larger motorhomes should look for sites offering a thirty-amp supply, which is generally needed to run air conditioning along with other appliances. French is the working language at most campground offices, though English is commonly understood. Cell coverage in the Montérégie countryside is reliable. Quiet hours are enforced, and grocery stores, fuel, and propane refills are easy to find in Saint-Césaire, Marieville, and Mont-Saint-Hilaire.
