Campgrounds and RV parks near Saint-Michel-des-Saints, QC

Saint-Michel-des-Saints sits in the Matawinie region of Lanaudière, north of Joliette, on the southern edge of a vast network of lakes, forests and Sépaq-managed wildlife territory. The village serves as a practical staging point for trips into Réserve faunique Mastigouche and the western sectors of Parc national du Mont-Tremblant. Lac de la Bouteille - Mastigouche Reserve is the closest park campground, accessed through the Bouteille Registration Centre, located 26 km east of Saint-Zénon via Route 131. Further west, Baie des Maries - Mont Tremblant Provincial Park, Lac Girondin - Mont Tremblant Provincial Park and Lac Lajoie - Mont Tremblant Provincial Park sit inside Quebec's oldest national park, which contains more than 400 lakes and streams and six major rivers. Camping Fort Apache, near Saint-Côme, gives RV travellers a private-campground option in the area. Roads inside Mastigouche are entirely gravel forest roads, so trip planning, fuel and tire condition matter before heading in. The surrounding region is heavily oriented to fishing, paddling and wildlife viewing rather than resort tourism.

Sépaq manages reservations for both Parc national du Mont-Tremblant and Réserve faunique Mastigouche through its central booking system, available online or by phone. Bookings for each summer season open the preceding November, so popular waterfront sites at Baie des Maries, Lac Girondin and Lac Lajoie can go quickly. A national park access right is required in addition to the campsite fee, and must be purchased before arrival, either online or at a registration centre. Lac de la Bouteille check-in is handled at the Bouteille Registration Centre, with tent-trailer, trailer and RV campers heading to Saint-Bernard advised to enter via Pins-Rouges instead. Camping Fort Apache and other private campgrounds in the area take reservations directly through the operator. Cabin and ready-to-camp inventory in both Sépaq destinations is limited, so plan early.
