Campgrounds and RV parks near Saint-Patrice-de-Sherrington, QC

Most trips here mix on-site campground amenities with day trips into the surrounding Montérégie. Parc Safari, a drive-through wildlife park, is the headline family attraction and sits minutes from Camping Du Lac Cristal. The historic sites of Fort Lennox and Fort Chambly, three nearby golf courses, the Circuit du Paysan touring route, local cycling paths, regional vineyards, and numerous orchards producing wine and ice cider are all within easy reach. Parc régional de Saint-Bernard offers an 18 km network of forest trails for hiking and cycling, plus an 18-hole disc-golf course. From Montreal South KOA, downtown Montreal sits about 15 miles away, with metro access for sightseeing, dining, and festivals.

Camping in this corner of Quebec is firmly seasonal. Most private campgrounds operate from mid-May through mid-October, mirroring the frost-free window. Camping Du Lac Cristal opens in mid-April and closes in mid-October, while Montreal South KOA Journey runs seasonally from early May through mid-October. July and August are the busiest weeks, particularly around the Canadian Grand Prix weekend in Montreal and the Saint-Jean-Baptiste long weekend in late June. Properties near Montreal can be fully booked during the F1 weekend, with washrooms and shared facilities under heavy load. Late spring and early fall are the calmer shoulder seasons. The frost-free season in southern Montérégie typically runs from late April or early May into mid-October, which sets the practical limits for tent and RV camping. Fall colour peaks in early October and lines up well with apple-picking and cider season. Winter RV camping is not a practical option in the area; campgrounds close, water systems are drained, and roads see heavy snow and freezing temperatures.

Expect family-oriented, amenity-heavy private campgrounds rather than rustic wilderness sites. Camping Du Lac Cristal has more than 335 sites, including wooded transient sites, cabins, yurts, and ready-to-camp units, with electric, water, and sewer service available. On-site services typically include a convenience store, dump station, laundry, restaurant, beach, swimming pool, and playgrounds, along with organized recreation. Montreal South KOA Journey offers around 140 long pull-thru sites built for big rigs, with bilingual English and French staff, a swimming pool, mini golf, and a camp store. French is the dominant language across the region, though English is widely understood at campgrounds catering to cross-border travellers. Quiet hours and campfire rules are enforced at most parks.
