Campgrounds and RV parks near Saint-Paulin, QC

La Mauricie National Park is the main draw. The park features more than 150 lakes set in mixed forest and Canadian Shield terrain, with paddling, hiking to waterfalls, and a network of cycling routes in the Rivière à la Pêche sector. Canoes, kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, and pedal boats can be rented at the Shewenegan, Lac Édouard, and Wapizagonke picnic areas during the summer season. Outside the park, the Saint-Maurice River corridor offers fishing, riverside cycling, and short drives to Shawinigan and Trois-Rivières for groceries, fuel, and supplies. In winter the park grooms cross-country ski and snowshoe trails, and experienced visitors can try ice climbing on cliffs that form part of the Canadian Shield.

Summer is the peak camping season around Saint-Paulin. La Mauricie National Park's busiest periods are the Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day weekend in late June, the Canada Day weekend in early July, and Quebec's two-week construction holiday in late July and early August, when both park and private campgrounds fill quickly and popular trails see heavy use. Spring brings melting snow, mud, and black flies. The semi-serviced campgrounds in the national park are generally open from mid-May to mid-October, so early-season visitors should confirm openings before arrival. Fall delivers maple and birch colour through September and October, cooler nights, and lighter crowds, making it a strong window for RV travel. Winter is cold and snowy from mid-December through March. La Mauricie keeps a marked and groomed trail network for classic and freestyle cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, while most private campgrounds in the Saint-Paulin area close outside the warm-weather season.

Private campgrounds near Saint-Paulin tend to be smaller, family-run operations with grassy or wooded sites, picnic tables, fire rings, and varying levels of water, electrical, and sewer hookups. Cell coverage is generally available in the village and along main roads but can drop off in forested areas and inside the national park. At Mistagance Campground, sites are wooded and semi-serviced, with a sewage dumping station on the campground and service buildings offering free toilets and showers. The campground has 91 sites, including 26 with electrical hookups providing both 15/20-amp and 30-amp outlets, and a maximum of six people is allowed per site. Pets must be leashed and supervised at all times, music must be played through personal headphones only, and ice and firewood are sold at the Mistagance wood yard.
