The camping season in this part of Quebec is short and concentrated. Most private parks open in early to mid-May and close in mid-September. Camping au Soleil Levant typically operates from spring through early fall, with the main season running June through September. Camping Plage La Liberte and the other private parks in the area follow similar windows, with exact dates published on each operator's website. July and August are peak season, with warm humid days, full pools and beaches, and packed weekend bookings. June and early September are cooler and quieter, with fewer bugs and more site availability. Spring shoulder season can be wet and muddy: ground thaw is recent and many private sites only open once water lines can be charged. By mid-October most private parks have closed for winter and only a handful of seasonal-focused parks remain open. Winter RV camping is not a practical option in the immediate Wickham area, and roads to many private sites are not maintained in winter.

Campgrounds near Wickham are generally family-oriented and amenity-heavy rather than rustic. Expect pools, beaches, playgrounds, weekend activities, and a high share of seasonal trailers alongside transient RV sites. Sites like Camping au Soleil Levant offer water games, a pool, a sand beach, and an outdoor playground, with a canteen and convenience store on site. Camping Plage La Liberte and Camping Lac Des Cypres offer a similar mix of serviced and unserviced sites. French is the working language at most parks, though staff at the larger sites usually speak some English. Cell coverage is solid along Autoroute 20 and thinner on back roads. Firewood is sold on site at most parks. Mosquitoes and black flies are common in late spring and early summer, especially near rivers and wooded sites, so bring repellent.
