Camping near Bay Minette, Alabama
Bay Minette sits in Baldwin County in southern Alabama, about half an hour north of Mobile Bay and the Mobile-Tensaw Delta. The area is a common jumping-off point for RV travelers heading to the Gulf Coast, and it combines quick interstate access with waterfront parks, delta wetlands, and Civil War-era historic sites.
Campground options in the surrounding area range from full-hookup state park sites on Mobile Bay to smaller, wooded county and private parks. Meaher State Park in Spanish Fort offers 108 RV campsites with 50-amp electrical, water, and sewer hookups, along with improved tent sites, within a 1,327-acre park at the head of Mobile Bay. Historic Blakeley State Park, home to the Apalachee - Blakeley State Park campground, preserves one of the largest Civil War battlefields in the region along the Tensaw River.
Closer to I-65, Deer Creek RV Park in Creola and I-65 RV Campground provide convenient overnight and long-stay sites for travelers moving along the corridor. Live Oak Landing, a Baldwin County park near Stockton, adds a waterfront option on the Tensaw River with 28 RV sites and boat access.
Things to do around Bay Minette
The Mobile-Tensaw Delta is the region's main draw. Kayak launches, boat ramps, and the Alabama Coastal Birding Trail run through the delta from Meaher State Park, which also features a boardwalk, a 300-foot fishing pier with a T-extension, and a boat ramp on the Blakeley River.
Historic Blakeley State Park offers over 20 miles of hiking, biking, and horseback riding trails, marked historical plaques, Civil War earthworks, and guided delta cruises on the Tensaw River. The USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park sits a short drive south on the causeway, and the Gulf beaches at Gulf Shores are roughly an hour south.
Fishing, paddling, and wildlife viewing are the everyday activities. Alligators, ospreys, bald eagles, and wading birds are common sightings across the delta.

December - February
63° / 43°F 130 mmMild; snowbird season; hard freezes uncommon
Bay Minette has a humid subtropical climate with no true dry season. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable stretches for camping, with warm days, lower rainfall than midsummer, and manageable humidity. March through May and October through November typically deliver the best mix of temperature, sunlight, and lower rainfall.
Summer runs hot and wet. Daily highs sit near 90°F from June through August, humidity stays high, and thunderstorm activity increases, with July averaging the most rainfall of the year. This is also the peak of Atlantic hurricane season, so RV travelers should monitor tropical forecasts from June through the end of November.
Winter is mild by North-American standards. Freezes are uncommon, measurable snow is essentially non-existent, and Meaher and other nearby state parks draw a steady snowbird crowd through the cooler months. Alabama State Parks allow extended camping stays up to 31 nights at select parks from November 1 to March 31, which shapes long-stay availability during that window.
How to book campsites near Bay Minette
Meaher State Park takes reservations through the Alabama State Parks system at reserve.alapark.com. Sites can be booked up to one year in advance. Maximum stay is 14 nights, extended to 31 nights from November 1 to March 31 at select parks, with a non-refundable reservation fee applied per site. Campground check-in is 2 PM and check-out is 11 AM.
Apalachee - Blakeley State Park is reserved through Historic Blakeley State Park directly, not the state system. Sites suit smaller units, and the park gate closes at 9 PM, so plan arrivals accordingly.
Live Oak Landing takes reservations online only through the Baldwin County parks website, not by phone. Deer Creek RV Park and I-65 RV Campground are private parks; reserve directly with each operator. Peak weekends in spring and fall fill early, so booking several weeks out is advisable.
What to expect on the ground
Sites near Bay Minette lean toward wooded and waterfront settings. Meaher offers paved pads with 50-amp service, water and sewer, two bathhouses with laundry, and a mix of shaded and open sites, with some road noise from the nearby causeway. Apalachee at Blakeley has pull-through sites suited to units of 25 feet or less, uneven pads, and a restroom in the nearby Bartram Campground rather than at the RV loop.
Deer Creek RV Park and I-65 RV Campground sit just off I-65 and are set up as convenient stopovers with 30/50-amp service, water, and sewer. Expect proximity to interstate traffic.
Insects are a factor near the delta and river bottoms, so pack repellent. Alligators are present in wetland areas. Cell coverage is generally solid on major carriers throughout the corridor.

Good news: Alabama consistently ranks among the cheapest fuel states in the U.S., often 20 to 40 cents below the national average. For a 4-day RV rental Alabama trip covering 400 miles in a Class C, budget roughly $120 to $180 in fuel at current Bay Minette pump prices. reservealapark.com/What are driving conditions like around Bay Minette?

The town sits on flat coastal plain terrain with wide rural highways like US-31, AL-59, and I-65, all easy to navigate in any size rig. Watch for two things: sudden summer thunderstorms (pull over and wait, they pass in 30 minutes), and low-hanging Spanish moss on older backroads, your 11 to 13 foot RV should still clear easily. Hurricane season runs June through November, so check the National Weather Service Mobile office forecast if storms are brewing. Pro tip: avoid the Bayway (I-10 over Mobile Bay) in heavy crosswinds; take the Causeway instead for a calmer, more scenic crossing.

The payment process is simple and secure. When you book your RV rental in Bay Minette through RVezy, you pay the rental total via credit card through the platform; no cash exchanges with the host.
