Campgrounds near Evergreen, Alabama
Evergreen sits in Conecuh County along Interstate 65 in south-central Alabama, roughly halfway between Montgomery and Mobile. The area serves as a practical RV base for travelers moving between the Gulf Coast and central Alabama, with public and private campgrounds spread across the surrounding pine forests, creeks, and lakes.
Most campgrounds sit within a 30 to 60 minute drive of the Evergreen area. Point A Park RV Park and Campground and The Oaks Family RV Park and Campground are located near Andalusia around Point A Lake and Gantt Lake, offering waterfront sites with hookups. Brewton RV Park LLC provides a straightforward highway stop to the south, while Boggs and Boulders LLC and Magnolia Branch Wildlife Reserve draw riders and families with off-road trails, tubing creeks, and wooded acreage along Big Escambia Creek.
Expect a mix of full-hookup pull-throughs, back-in sites with 30 and 50 amp service, and rustic tent areas. Cell coverage is generally reliable along I-65 but can thin out on rural county roads leading to the more secluded reserves.
Things to do around Evergreen
Water and forest recreation define most trips. Point A Lake and Gantt Lake support bass, bluegill, crappie and catfish fishing, along with boating and shoreline picnic areas. Magnolia Branch Wildlife Reserve features multiple fishing lakes and creek access, rents tubes for creek floats, and provides canoes for pond exploration, with no Alabama fishing license required for on-site fishing and horse stables offering overnight boarding.
Off-road riders head to Boggs and Boulders LLC for ATV, UTV, dirt bike, and side-by-side trails covering wooded loops, mud pits, and rocky terrain.
Day-trip options include Conecuh National Forest to the south for hiking and quiet camping, and Monroeville to the west, home to the Old Monroe County Courthouse museum tied to Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird.

The region has a humid subtropical climate with long, hot summers and short, mild winters. Spring and fall bring the most comfortable camping weather, with warm days, cool nights, and lower humidity than mid-summer. Winter and spring bring widespread rainfall from frontal systems and occasional severe weather, so travelers should monitor thunderstorm and tornado outlooks and pick sites with sturdy shelter access.
Summer rainfall is dominated by frequent thunderstorms fed by Gulf moisture. Creek tubing at Magnolia Branch Wildlife Reserve and warm-weather activity at Boggs and Boulders LLC are most active during this stretch, and weekends fill early around holidays. Fall precipitation is more variable and often influenced by tropical systems and hurricanes moving inland from the Gulf.
Winter temperatures are generally mild but can drop sharply during outbreaks of Arctic air, though lakeside parks like Point A Park RV Park and Campground remain open through the cool season.
How to book campgrounds near Evergreen
Private parks handle their own reservations. Boggs and Boulders LLC, Magnolia Branch Wildlife Reserve, Brewton RV Park LLC, The Oaks Family RV Park and Campground, and Point A Park RV Park and Campground each take bookings by phone or through their own websites, and some list availability on third-party platforms.
For peak weekends, spring break, summer holidays, and any Boggs and Boulders event weekend, book several weeks ahead. Camping at Magnolia Branch Wildlife Reserve includes a general admission fee per person in addition to camping charges, and tent campers are allowed a maximum stay of one week, and sleeping tents are not permitted on RV sites.
Alabama State Parks and U.S. Forest Service campgrounds in the wider region use ReserveAmerica or Recreation.gov, so confirm the correct booking portal before arrival.
What to expect on-site
Site styles vary widely. Lakeside parks near Andalusia tend to offer grassy or gravel pads with utilities, shaded by mature trees. RV sites at Magnolia Branch offer electrical hookups, water, and sewer connections, with each site spacious and shaded by towering trees, along with tent and primitive areas on wooded acreage. A playground sits adjacent to camping areas, and horse stables offer overnight boarding for equestrian visitors, and the newest bathhouse includes four shower stalls.
Boggs and Boulders LLC runs a working off-road park, so expect daytime noise from ATVs and side-by-sides, event weekends with vendors, and a mix of 30 amp and 50 amp sites plus bunkhouse rentals.
Bring insect repellent, sun protection, and rain gear year-round. Fire restrictions can change with drought conditions, so review each park's rules before arrival.
