Campgrounds near Greenville, Alabama
Greenville sits in Butler County along Interstate 65 in south-central Alabama, roughly halfway between Montgomery and Mobile. The location makes it a practical overnight or multi-night stop for RV travelers moving along the I-65 corridor, and a base for exploring the Alabama River basin, Conecuh National Forest, and the small lakes scattered through the region.
Options in the wider area lean toward smaller, privately owned RV parks with full hookups and pull-through sites. Cypress Landing RV Park sits on Gantt Lake near Dozier, south of Greenville, alongside Gantt Lake RV Park and Rentals on the same lake and Point A Park RV Park and Campground on nearby Point A Lake. Kick Back Ranch offers a more rural stay in the surrounding countryside, and Montgomery South RV Park and Cabins provides an alternative to the north near the state capital.
Most parks in this corridor cater to both overnighters and longer stays, with sewer, water, and 30/50-amp electric standard at the larger sites.
Things to do near Greenville
Fishing is a major draw at the lakes south of Greenville. Gantt Lake and Point A Lake, both on the Conecuh River system, hold largemouth bass, bream, and catfish, and both have public boat ramps. Guests at Cypress Landing RV Park, Gantt Lake RV Park and Rentals, and Point A Park RV Park and Campground have direct lake access.
Golfers can play Cambrian Ridge in Greenville, part of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. History-minded travelers can explore the antebellum architecture in downtown Greenville and drive south to the Hank Williams Boyhood Home and Museum in Georgiana.
For hiking and paddling, the Conecuh National Forest lies about an hour south and offers the Conecuh Trail, longleaf pine woods, cypress swamps, and quiet blackwater creeks well suited to kayaks and canoes.

Spring and fall are the strongest windows for RV travel in this part of Alabama. From late March through May, daytime highs are in the mid-70s to mid-80s Fahrenheit, humidity is manageable, and dogwoods and azaleas are in bloom. October and early November bring similar temperatures with the lowest rainfall totals of the year and reduced insect pressure.
Summer is hot and humid, with July and August highs regularly above 90 degrees Fahrenheit and frequent afternoon thunderstorms. RV air conditioning is essential, and shaded sites fill first. This is also peak Atlantic hurricane season, and while Greenville is inland, remnants of Gulf storms can bring heavy rain and wind from August into October.
Winters are mild but wet. December and January bring some of the wettest averages of the year, and hard freezes are possible but usually short-lived. Most private RV parks in the area operate year-round, though some seasonal amenities such as pools close from November through March.
How to book a campsite near Greenville
Privately owned parks in the Greenville area, including Cypress Landing RV Park, Montgomery South RV Park and Cabins, Gantt Lake RV Park and Rentals, Kick Back Ranch, and Point A Park RV Park and Campground, generally take reservations directly by phone or through their own websites. Some also list availability on third-party booking platforms.
Alabama State Parks in the wider region use the alapark.com Plan Your Adventure portal and open bookings up to twelve months in advance for out-of-state guests and thirteen months for Alabama residents. Federal sites, including U.S. Army Corps of Engineers parks and national forest campgrounds, use Recreation.gov with a six-month rolling booking window.
Weekends from April through October fill first, especially around Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day. Booking four to eight weeks ahead is a safe target for shoulder-season weekends, and same-week weeknights are often available.
What to expect on the ground
Sites near Greenville tend to be level gravel or grass pads with full hookups. Cell service on the major carriers is generally strong along the I-65 corridor and in town, and weaker in the pine woods south toward Andalusia and the national forest.
Biting insects are a factor from late spring through early fall. Mosquitoes, gnats, and ticks are all present, and yellow flies can be a nuisance near wooded lake edges in early summer. Bring repellent, and check for ticks after walks in tall grass.
Wildlife along the Conecuh River watershed includes white-tailed deer, wild turkey, alligators in some of the slower waters, and venomous snakes including cottonmouths and copperheads. Keep pets leashed near water. Firewood restrictions apply on federal land, so buy locally rather than transporting wood across county lines.
