Campgrounds and RV parks near Kinston, AL

Fishing drives most trips to this part of Alabama. Lake Frank Jackson at Frank Jackson State Park is stream-fed and popular with bass, bream, crappie, and catfish anglers, and Gantt Lake covers roughly 2,700 acres with bass, bluegill, catfish, crappie, and redear sunfish. Both lakes have boat ramps, and Cypress Landing RV Park keeps non-ethanol gas on its dock. Beyond the water, families use Frank Jackson's three miles of walking trails and its pedestrian bridge over the lake for wildlife viewing. Bama Slam RV Park offers ATV and off-road trails, a swimming hole, and live music at its on-site saloon. Day trips reach Conecuh National Forest to the south for hiking and paddling, and the Florida Emerald Coast beaches near Destin are within about a ninety-minute drive.

South Alabama has a humid subtropical climate with long, hot summers and short, mild winters. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to travel with an RV, with daytime highs generally in the seventies and low eighties Fahrenheit and lower humidity than the summer months. Wildflowers and moderate lake temperatures make March through May a strong window for fishing trips. Summer brings consistent heat, high humidity, and near-daily afternoon thunderstorms. Sites at private parks like Gantt Lake RV Park and Rentals and The Oaks Family RV Park and Campground fill around holiday weekends, and Frank Jackson State Park sees peak fishing traffic. Atlantic hurricane season runs June through November, with peak activity typically in August and September. Winters are mild but wet, with December among the wettest months of the year. Frank Jackson State Park remains open year-round, and Alabama State Parks extends the maximum camping stay from fourteen nights to thirty-one nights between November 1 and March 31 at select parks.

Most sites in the area are level, with a mix of gravel and concrete pads. Frank Jackson State Park has 32 RV campsites with water, electricity, sewer, and cable, three of them ADA-accessible, plus eight primitive sites near the bathhouse. Gantt Lake RV Park and Rentals accommodates rigs up to about 45 feet with full 30-amp hookups. Cypress Landing RV Park offers 63 full-hookup sites with 20, 30, and 50-amp service, two cabins, tent sites, coin laundry, and two bathhouses. The Oaks Family RV Park and Campground has concrete pull-thrus, a pool, a fishing pond, a dog park, and a playground. Bama Slam RV Park provides 30 and 50-amp hookups with a bathhouse, and its primitive area has no water or electric.
