Campgrounds and RV parks near Webb, AL

The Chattahoochee River is the main draw east of Webb. Omussee Creek Park includes hiking trails, a volleyball court, two boat ramps, two softball/baseball fields, and picnic areas, and is open daily from dawn until dusk. Bass fishing, paddling, and river access are the primary warm-weather activities. Dothan, a short drive west, provides groceries, medical care, and family stops including the U.S. Army Aviation Museum at Fort Novosel, the Wiregrass Museum of Art, and Water World in season. About an hour north, Lakepoint State Park on Lake Eufaula draws anglers to a reservoir known regionally as a top bass fishery, with a marina, walking trails, and wildlife viewing that can include osprey and American alligators.

Southeast Alabama has a humid subtropical climate with long, hot summers and mild winters. Spring and fall are the most comfortable windows for RV travel, with daytime highs in the 70s to mid-80s and lower humidity than midsummer. Monthly average high temperatures in Dothan rise from about 58°F in January to a peak near 90°F in July before dropping back to the low 60s in December, which frames the shoulder seasons as the practical sweet spot. Summer brings frequent afternoon thunderstorms and daytime highs regularly in the low 90s. August averages around 90°F during the day with roughly 17 rainy days and about 6.87 inches of rain, making late summer the wettest and stormiest stretch rather than winter. Creek levels along the Chattahoochee tributaries can rise quickly after sustained rain, and Omussee Creek is no exception. Atlantic hurricane season runs June through November, with peak activity in late August and September. Chattahoochee State Park, formerly operated by Houston County in the extreme southeast corner of Alabama, closed following destruction by Hurricane Michael in 2018. RVers should monitor National Hurricane Center advisories during the peak months and confirm campground status after major storms.

Terrain around Webb is flat, sandy, and wooded, with pine flatwoods and hardwood bottoms along creeks. Most private RV parks in the Dothan area offer 30/50-amp full hookups, laundry, and Wi-Fi of variable quality, with layouts favoring pull-through sites suited to larger rigs and long-term guests. Omussee Creek Park is a quieter, more rustic experience, with hiking trails, boat ramps, picnic areas, and camping available for a fee near the Chattahoochee River. Cell coverage in the river bottom can drop depending on carrier, so a signal booster is useful. Firearms and ATVs are not permitted at the county park. Biting insects, ticks, and the occasional alligator sighting along larger waterways are part of camping this far south, so bring repellent and keep pets leashed near shorelines.
