Campgrounds and RV parks near West Blocton, AL

West Blocton sits in Bibb County in central Alabama, within easy RV range of two state historical parks and several private RV parks serving the Birmingham and Tuscaloosa corridors. The area combines wooded creek settings with quick interstate access, so travelers can pair a rural campground base with day trips into either metro. The closest full-service state park camping is at Tannehill Ironworks Historical State Park in McCalla, roughly a half-hour drive northeast, and Brierfield Ironworks Historical State Park just east in Bibb County, which is open 365 days a year. Both preserve Civil War-era iron furnaces and offer camping, hiking, and family activities on wooded grounds. For RVers who prefer commercial parks with reservations, full hookups, and Wi-Fi, Bama RV Station in Cottondale sits off the I-20/59 corridor near Tuscaloosa, while Hoover RV Park and Birmingham South RV Park serve the south Birmingham metro. Together these options cover state-park camping, big-rig commercial sites, and short overnight stops.

Reservation rules vary by park type. Tannehill Ironworks operates its campground on a first-come, first-served basis with 24-hour on-site registration; arrivals pick a site and check in with the ranger. Sites can sell out on busy event weekends, so plan to arrive earlier in the day during Trade Days, the Halloween Festival, and holiday periods. Brierfield Ironworks accepts reservations for cabins and facilities, with a written cancellation policy: a service fee is assessed on any cancellation, and cancellations within 14 days or less are subject to a charge of 50% of the one-day rental fee. Commercial parks take advance reservations through their own websites or booking platforms. Bama RV Station books by phone or online, Hoover RV Park reserves by phone, email, or online, and Birmingham South RV Park books directly. Reserve well ahead for SEC baseball tournaments and football weekends.
