Campgrounds and RV parks near Bluewater, AZ

The Colorado River is the main draw. Boating and fishing are popular, with beaches along the river and a resort marina and boat launch just next door. Fishing for trout, striped bass, bass, catfish, crappie and bluegill is available in the river. Wakeboarding, tubing, and personal watercraft dominate the Parker Strip on weekends, while quieter coves upriver toward Parker Dam suit kayaks and paddleboards. Parker Dam is just off Highway 95 a few miles north of the campgrounds; RVs are not permitted on the dam, only passenger vehicles. The surrounding BLM land and desert washes are open to OHV riding and hiking, and the BlueWater Resort and Casino provides indoor entertainment, dining, and gaming on hot afternoons. Day trips reach Lake Havasu City to the north and Quartzsite to the south, both within about an hour's drive.

The Parker Strip has two distinct seasons. Cool months, roughly October through April, bring comfortable daytime temperatures and heavy snowbird traffic. Long-term winter visitors fill full-hookup sites, and reservations for January and February should be made months ahead. Nights can be cool and desert winds are common. Late spring and summer flip the script. River recreation peaks from Memorial Day through Labor Day, when the Parker Strip fills with boaters and holiday weekends sell out well in advance. Summers are sweltering, winters are cool, and it is dry and mostly clear year round; the temperature typically varies from 45°F to 110°F and is rarely below 37°F or above 116°F. Shade and 50-amp power for air conditioning become priorities. Monsoon storms arrive in July and August, bringing short, intense downpours, dust storms, and occasional flash-flood warnings in desert washes. Fall cools quickly after mid-October and is often the most balanced window for RV travel: warm days, cool nights, and lighter crowds.

Expect a river-and-desert atmosphere rather than a forested campground. Blue Water RV Park has 194 full hook-up sites with 50 amp service, laundry, showers, and a clubhouse, within walking distance of the arcade and movie theater at the adjacent resort. Tent camping is not permitted at the park. Sites are typically gravel, sun-exposed, and closer together than in national-forest campgrounds. Water recreation drives the vibe. The area suits boaters and OHV riders, though the toys and rides can be noisy from early morning until late at night. Families who want quiet should ask for interior sites away from launch ramps. Cell service is generally reliable near Parker, groceries and fuel are available in town, and the BlueWater Resort and Casino sits close to Blue Water RV Park for dining and entertainment.
