Campgrounds near Cave Creek, Arizona
Cave Creek sits in the upper Sonoran Desert north of Phoenix at roughly 2,100 feet, with quick access to protected desert land on three sides. The Phoenix metropolitan area offers multiple RV options near Cave Creek, and the town works as a base for RV travelers who want desert scenery, trail access, and a Western Main Street without committing to a national park route.
Camping options fall into two categories. Full-service private RV resorts cluster south of town toward north Phoenix and include Shangri-La Ranch (Nudist), Pioneer RV Resort (55+), Deserts Edge RV Village, Phoenix Metro RV Park, and Desert Shadows RV Resort. Public land camping is anchored by Cave Creek Regional Park, a full-service campground within the Maricopa County Parks system, sitting on 2,922 acres of Sonoran Desert with 55 numbered campsites arranged in two loops near the park entrance.
Rig-size and hookup expectations vary widely between the private resorts and the county park, so match the site type to the trailer or motorhome before booking.
Things to do near Cave Creek
Hiking is the main draw. Cave Creek Regional Park offers trails through a Sonoran Desert landscape with saguaro stands, washes, and ridge overlooks. Adjacent Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area protects roughly 2,154 acres of desert, with mesquite bosques, large saguaros, and rolling hills dotted with prickly pear cactus.
The Town of Cave Creek maintains a network of multi-use trails that connects portions of town and provides access to Cave Creek Regional Park, Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area, the Tonto National Forest, and the 315-mile Maricopa Trail. Trails support hiking, biking, and horseback riding, with local outfitters offering guided rides into the backcountry.
In town, the Cave Creek Museum, Western-style shops, and restaurants along Cave Creek Road round out a rest day between hikes.

How to book campgrounds near Cave Creek
For the public campground, campsites may be booked up to six months in advance of the arrival date through the online reservation system operated by Maricopa County Parks. Maricopa County residents have earlier access to campsite reservations, booking up to two weeks before out-of-county visitors under the current policy. Reservations can also be made by phone with the park office.
Private resorts including Shangri-La Ranch (Nudist), Pioneer RV Resort (55+), Deserts Edge RV Village, Phoenix Metro RV Park, and Desert Shadows RV Resort take direct bookings through their own websites or phone lines. Winter stays at 55+ and snowbird-focused resorts often book months out, and many require minimum stays in peak season.
Arizona State Trust Land camping requires an annual recreation permit, which is worth knowing if a dispersed backup site is on the plan.
What to expect on the ground

Yes, RV delivery is one of the most useful features on RVezy, especially if you're new to RV life. Delivery fees vary by distance, and most hosts within 30 miles of Cave Creek offer it as an add-on at booking. Use the Delivery filter to surface those listings instantly.
maricopacountyparks.net/park-locator/cave-creek-regional-park/How far can I drive on a Cave Creek RV trip?

Cave Creek itself is ideal for new drivers: wide desert roads, easy access to State Route 51 and Loop 101, and very little urban congestion compared to central Phoenix. Save the roadside number in your phone before you leave the lot, and you can focus on the saguaros instead of the worst-case scenarios.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Cave Creek RV rental to other states or Mexico?
Most Cave Creek RV rentals are road-trip ready for the western US, with popular routes heading into Utah (Zion is about 7 hours), Nevada (Las Vegas is roughly 5 hours), California, New Mexico, and Colorado. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance and protection coverage does not extend across that border. Cross-country and multi-state itineraries are fine: just message the host before booking so they can confirm mileage and any one-way drop-off options. A classic RV road trip from Cave Creek hits Sedona, the Grand Canyon, and Monument Valley in about a week. Map your route, pad in a rest day, and let the open road do the rest.

Fuel is usually the biggest variable on any Cave Creek RV trip, so a quick budget makes a big difference. Expect 7 to 10 miles per gallon (MPG) for larger Class A and Class C motorhomes, 12 to 18 MPG for Class B campervans, and around 10 to 14 MPG combined when towing a travel trailer. Arizona gas typically runs a bit below the national average, with stations in nearby Phoenix and Carefree usually cheapest. For a 500-mile loop (say, Cave Creek to Sedona to the Grand Canyon and back), budget roughly $150 to $250 in fuel for a mid-sized motorhome. Fill up before heading into remote stretches of Tonto National Forest where stations are sparse.

That's how locals snag the best pull-throughs with full hookups.
