Campgrounds and RV parks near Central Heights-Midland City, AZ

Roosevelt Lake anchors most water-based trips. The reservoir covers roughly 21,500 acres with 128 miles of shoreline, and the marina rents pontoons, deck boats, and fishing boats. Bass fishing, boating, and sailing are common, and bald eagles and ospreys are often spotted near the water. Tonto National Monument, with its Salado cliff dwellings, is a short drive from the lake. Closer to town, Gila County RV Park and Batting Range offers on-site batting cages, which is unusual for the area and useful for families. The Mescal Mountains OHV Area near Kearny provides beginner-friendly ATV and 4x4 loops on BLM-managed land. Apache Gold Casino Resort adds a golf course, gaming, and dining. Historic downtown Globe, the Besh-Ba-Gowah archaeological park, and sections of the Arizona Trail round out the itinerary.

Spring and fall are the peak windows. From March through May and again from October into November, daytime highs generally sit in the 70s and 80s Fahrenheit, which is comfortable for hiking the Pinal Mountains, riding the Mescal Mountains OHV trails, and boating on Roosevelt Lake. These shoulder seasons draw the most reservations, so full-hookup sites at parks like Queen Valley RV Resort and Roosevelt Lake Marina RV Park can fill weeks ahead on weekends. Summer brings intense heat, with July and August highs routinely between 90 and 100 degrees Fahrenheit and afternoon monsoon thunderstorms common. July is the wettest month in Globe, and flash-flood warnings on desert washes and OHV areas are typical during storms. Lake use stays strong despite the heat. Winters are mild by Arizona-highlands standards. December and January highs sit in the mid- to upper 50s Fahrenheit with overnight lows near or just above freezing. Snow is rare and short-lived, and most campgrounds in the area operate year-round, though services at some smaller sites are reduced.

Roads into the area are paved and RV-friendly. US-60 handles the main east-west traffic through Globe and Miami, and AZ-188 up to Roosevelt Lake is fully paved. Cell coverage is reliable in Globe and Central Heights-Midland City but drops in and out along AZ-188 and near the OHV area. Expect basic desert-park amenities rather than resort finishes. Sites at Roosevelt Lake Marina RV Park have concrete pads and full hookups, with a general store and on-site restaurant nearby. Gila County RV Park and Batting Range and Apache Gold Casino Resort sit close to grocery stores, medical services, and fuel in Globe. Water and shade are the two things to plan for. Bring extra drinking water for OHV days, use awnings and sunshades in summer, and secure loose items before afternoon monsoon storms.
