Campgrounds and RV parks near Fort Valley, AZ

Fort Valley sits just northwest of Flagstaff along Highway 180, at roughly 7,000 feet in the ponderosa pine belt of the Coconino National Forest. Flagstaff is located in the largest contiguous ponderosa pine forest in the world. The corridor is a common staging point for RV trips to the San Francisco Peaks, the Grand Canyon South Rim, Sunset Crater, and Wupatki, and it stays noticeably cooler than the desert lowlands to the south. RV options cluster on the Flagstaff side of the valley. Woody Mountain Campground and Kit Carson RV Park sit close to town on the west and east sides respectively, while Black Barts RV Park is a familiar full-hookup stop near Butler Avenue. Flagstaff KOA Holiday offers standard KOA amenities on the east end of the city, and Fort Tuthill County Campground sits just south of Flagstaff off I-17, among tall ponderosa pines. Most travelers pair one of these private or county parks with day trips into the surrounding national forest, where developed Forest Service campgrounds and dispersed sites fill in the picture.

Private RV parks such as Woody Mountain Campground, Kit Carson RV Park, Black Barts RV Park, and Flagstaff KOA Holiday are booked directly through each park's website or by phone. Summer weekends, the Fourth of July, and Grand Canyon shoulder weeks fill early, so reserve as far ahead as possible for RVs over 30 feet or for sites needing 50-amp service. Fort Tuthill County Campground is operated by Coconino County Parks and Recreation and takes reservations through the county's booking system; reservations must be made at least three days in advance of arrival, otherwise guests are registered as first-come, first-serve on arrival. For Forest Service campgrounds in the surrounding Coconino National Forest, some sites are reservable through Recreation.gov or by calling 877-444-6777, while many campgrounds also keep sites available on a first-come, first-served basis.
