Campgrounds and RV parks near Fortuna Foothills, AZ

Fortuna Foothills sits east of Yuma in the lower Colorado River corridor of southwest Arizona, a hot desert area that functions as one of the country's busiest snowbird destinations. The community is unincorporated and closely tied to Yuma for groceries, medical care, and fuel, with most RV resorts clustered along the I-8 corridor between Foothills Boulevard and Fortuna Road. The area is dominated by large, amenity-heavy snowbird resorts rather than traditional tent campgrounds. Foothills Village RV Resort, Sundance RV Park, Gila Mountain RV Park, Fortuna De Oro RV Resort, and Rancho Rialto MFH and RV Resort all cater primarily to seasonal guests with full hookups, paved pads, clubhouses, pools, pickleball, and organized activities. Many are 55-plus communities. For public-land camping, the BLM Imperial Dam Long-Term Visitor Area sits on the west side of the Colorado River near Yuma and covers a large area used for camping, fishing, swimming, and picnicking, offering a very different experience from the resort parks closer to town.

Private resorts in the Foothills area generally take direct reservations through their own websites or by phone. Winter sites at Foothills Village RV Resort, Sundance RV Park, Gila Mountain RV Park, Fortuna De Oro RV Resort, and Rancho Rialto MFH and RV Resort are commonly held by returning seasonal guests, so renters should inquire months ahead for stays between November and March. Short stays and last-minute openings are easier to find in late spring, summer, and early fall. For public land, the BLM Imperial Dam Long-Term Visitor Area operates on a permit system rather than reservations. A long-term permit covers continuous use from September 15 to April 15, while a short-visit permit covers any 14 consecutive day period within that window and can be renewed. Permits are sold at the Yuma Field Office, on site, or online through Recreation.gov.
