Campgrounds and RV parks near Golden Shores, AZ

Golden Shores is a small unincorporated community in western Mohave County, Arizona, sitting on the east side of the Colorado River just north of Interstate 40 where it crosses into Needles, California. The area serves as a low-desert base for river recreation, with the Havasu National Wildlife Refuge immediately to the south and Lake Havasu roughly 40 minutes downriver. RV renters use Golden Shores mainly for warm-weather river access and as a winter destination. The climate is sub-tropical desert, with mild winters and very hot summers, and the town sits in the Mohave Valley crossed by the Colorado River, one of the hottest areas of North America. That pattern drives a heavy snowbird season from late fall through early spring. Campground options near town include Route 66 Golden Shores RV Park in the community itself, Calizona RV Park and Needles Marina RV Park just across the river in Needles, and Fenders River Road Resort and Motel and NorthShore RV Resort along the river corridor. Most sites offer full hookups suited to Class A, Class C, and travel-trailer rentals.

Private RV parks in the Golden Shores and Needles corridor take reservations directly by phone or through their own websites. For winter stays from November through March, contact Route 66 Golden Shores RV Park, Calizona RV Park, Needles Marina RV Park, Fenders River Road Resort and Motel, and NorthShore RV Resort several months in advance, as many sites go to returning monthly and seasonal guests. For nearby public land, Lake Havasu State Park and Cattail Cove State Park use the Arizona State Parks reservation system at azstateparks.com, which accepts bookings up to 365 days in advance. Bureau of Land Management dispersed sites along the river generally accept walk-ups. For a rented RV, confirm site length, hookup type (30 versus 50 amp), and slide clearance at time of booking, and check whether the park requires a credit card hold or a specific proof of insurance from the rental company.
