Campgrounds and RV parks near Mammoth, AZ

Mammoth sits in the San Pedro River valley in Pinal County, southeastern Arizona, between the Galiuro Mountains to the east and the Santa Catalina Mountains to the southwest. The town is a small former mining community roughly an hour northeast of Tucson, and most RV travelers use it as a quieter base for exploring the northern edge of the Sonoran Desert and the Coronado National Forest. Campground options range from in-town RV parks to a large state park campground about 40 minutes south. The closest options include Mescal Mountains OHV Area, Wishing Well Trailer Court/Wishing Well RV Park, and South Forty RV Ranch/Park. Full-hookup travelers often continue toward Tucson and stay at Far Horizons Trailer Village, while campers wanting developed sites with a park setting head to Catalina State Park at the base of the Santa Catalinas. Most facilities in this corridor sit at elevations between 2,000 and 3,000 feet, creating moderate climate conditions compared to lower desert regions. That elevation band keeps winter camping comfortable and shoulder seasons long.

Reservations for Catalina State Park are made through the Arizona State Parks reservation system, and the park offers both standard campsites and group camping areas that can be reserved in advance. The park accommodates large RVs, reservations are limited to 14 consecutive nights, and the campground is open all year. During peak cooler months, early reservations are recommended as the campground frequently fills to capacity. Private parks such as Wishing Well Trailer Court/Wishing Well RV Park, Far Horizons Trailer Village, and South Forty RV Ranch/Park take reservations directly by phone or through their own websites, and many offer monthly rates for long-stay winter visitors. Dispersed camping on BLM and Coronado National Forest land near Mescal Mountains OHV Area is first-come, first-served with a standard 14-day stay limit.
