Camping near Arkadelphia, Arkansas
Arkadelphia sits in south-central Arkansas along the Ouachita River, roughly an hour southwest of Little Rock and within easy reach of two major state park campgrounds. The area is dominated by DeGray Lake, a large reservoir in the foothills of the Ouachita Mountains, and by the smaller Lake Catherine near Hot Springs.
DeGray Lake Resort State Park is the closest full-service state park campground, with 113 sites ranging from walk-in tent pads to Class AAA sites with full hookups, plus rent-a-yurts, a lakeside lodge, marina, and 18-hole golf course. Lake Catherine State Park lies farther north and offers Class AAA full-hookup and Class B water-and-electric sites along the lakeshore, plus cabins and a yurt.
Closer to town, private options such as Brushy Creek Campground, Leisure Landing RV Park, and Catherine's Landing give RV travelers full-hookup alternatives when state park sites are booked out. Interstate 30 runs through Arkadelphia, making arrival and resupply straightforward.
Things to do around Arkadelphia
DeGray Lake is the main draw. Visitors boat, fish, swim, paddle, and ride horseback, and mountain bikers use extensive trails with lake views. The park also has an 18-hole championship golf course, an 18-hole disc golf course, two swim beaches, five hiking trails, and a full-service marina renting kayaks, pedal boats, and pontoons.
Lake Catherine State Park adds a woodland waterfall on the 1.7-mile Falls Branch Trail, the longer Dam Mountain Trail, a swim beach, and boat rentals on a 1,940-acre lake. Anglers target bass, bream, and catfish on both lakes.
Hot Springs National Park is roughly a 40-minute drive north for historic bathhouses, downtown walking, and additional hiking. Families staying near Arkadelphia can combine lake days with day trips to Hot Springs without moving the rig.

Spring and fall are the sweet spots for camping near Arkadelphia. March through May brings mild days in the mid-70s Fahrenheit and wildflowers, though May is the wettest month of the year and thunderstorms are frequent. October and November stay comfortable with cool nights and lighter rainfall, making them among the most reliable months for lake weather.
Summer is the peak booking window at DeGray Lake Resort State Park and Lake Catherine State Park. Daytime highs regularly push into the low 90s Fahrenheit with high humidity, and weekend sites, especially waterfront and full-hookup ones, fill weeks in advance. Both state park campgrounds accept reservations up to a year ahead, so summer trips should be locked in early.
Winter is quieter. DeGray Lake Resort State Park's campground stays open year-round, and Lake Catherine also remains open, though some seasonal services close in the colder months. Expect chilly nights near freezing and occasional cold snaps.

On RVezy, most travel trailers start around $80 to $130 per night, Class C motorhomes typically run $150 to $250 per night, larger Class A motorhomes range from $200 to $350 nightly, and campervan rentals in Arkadelphia tend to land between $100 and $180. Pro tip: many DeGray Lake campsites are state-park or Corps of Engineers sites that cost just $20 to $35 a night, so the campground stay barely dents the trip budget.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Arkadelphia%2C%20ArkansasWhat kind of driver's license do I need to rent an RV in Arkadelphia?
Good news: for the vast majority of RVs you'll find on RVezy, your regular Class D driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Arkadelphia. Arkansas only requires a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) for non-commercial vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) over 26,000 pounds, and almost every Class B campervan, Class C motorhome, travel trailer, and fifth wheel on the platform falls well below that limit. Approved drivers on RVezy are generally 25 or older, and identity verification happens right inside the platform during checkout. If you're visiting from outside the US, bring an International Driving Permit alongside your home license and you're set for your Arkadelphia RV trip.

Yes, and that peace of mind is built right into every booking. When you rent an RV in Arkadelphia through RVezy, your trip automatically includes a renter protection plan that covers the vehicle, plus 24/7 roadside assistance in case of a flat tire, dead battery, or lockout on Interstate 30 or out near DeGray Lake. During checkout you'll choose between protection plan tiers so you can pick the level of coverage that fits your comfort zone. This isn't traditional auto insurance, but it provides significant financial protection so a small mishap doesn't ruin your vacation. Pro tip: save the RVezy roadside assistance number in your phone before you leave Arkadelphia, AR.

Absolutely, booking an RV rental in Arkadelphia, AR is low-risk. RVezy sets the cancellation policy (not the individual host), and every booking includes a money-back grace period right after you book so you can lock in your dates without stress. After that window, refund eligibility depends on how close you are to your trip start date, and RVezy also has compassionate policies for major weather events, which matters in Arkansas where spring storms occasionally roll through. The full details live in your booking confirmation and the RVezy Help Center, so you'll always know exactly where you stand. Pro tip: book early for DeGray Lake summer weekends, then relax knowing you have a clear path if life pivots.

Yes, dogs are welcome on plenty of Arkadelphia RV rentals. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter when you search and you'll see hosts who happily welcome four-legged co-pilots, often for a small cleaning fee. Once you arrive, your pup will love the wide-open trails at DeGray Lake Resort State Park and the leash-friendly loops at the Caddo Drive Corps of Engineers campground. Arkansas State Parks require pets on a leash no longer than six feet at all times, and most Army Corps campgrounds follow the same rule. Pro tip: a pet-friendly RV rental in Arkadelphia paired with a shaded site near DeGray Lake is hands-down the most dog-loved combo around.
arkansasstateparks.com/parks/degray-lake-resort-state-parkCan the RV be delivered to my campsite in Arkadelphia?
Yes, RV delivery in Arkadelphia is one of the easiest ways to start your trip, especially if it's your first time. Use the Delivery filter to instantly see hosts who will tow or drive the RV directly to DeGray Lake Resort State Park, Caddo Drive, Edgewood, or even your driveway in Caddo Valley right off Exit 78. They'll level it, hook up water, power, and sewer where available, then walk you through every system before handing over the keys. Delivery fees are typically based on round-trip mileage from the host's location. Pro tip: have your campsite number ready when messaging the host so they can confirm the site can fit the rig's length.

The crown jewel is DeGray Lake Resort State Park in Bismarck, with lakeshore campsites offering water and electric hookups on a 13,400-acre lake. Caddo Drive, Arlie Moore, Edgewood, Alpine Ridge, and Shouse Ford are all Army Corps of Engineers campgrounds with lakefront RV sites on DeGray Lake. For full-hookup convenience right off Interstate 30, several private RV parks operate in Caddo Valley with 50-amp service and pull-through sites. Pro tip: book a lake-view loop at DeGray Lake Resort State Park early for the best sunset views.
arkansasstateparks.com/parks/degray-lake-resort-state-parkWhen is the best time to take an RV trip from Arkadelphia?
Arkadelphia has a humid subtropical climate, which means the sweet spots for an RV road trip from Arkadelphia are mid-March through May and mid-September through early November. Spring brings highs in the 60s to low 80s and the Ouachita foothills wake up in bloom, while fall delivers crisp 60-to-75-degree days and brilliant foliage around DeGray Lake in mid- to late October. Summers (June to August) are hot and humid with highs in the low to mid 90s, perfect if you're chasing lake swimming and shaded campsites. Winters are mild with highs near 50 and lows in the mid-30s, and DeGray Lake hosts a popular bald eagle viewing weekend each January. Pro tip: October weekends fill DeGray fast, so reserve early.
weather.gov/lzk/I've never driven an RV. Will I be okay renting in Arkadelphia?
Yes, and Arkadelphia is one of the friendlier places in the country for first time renting an RV. Roads around town are wide, traffic is light, and Interstate 30 runs straight through with easy fuel stops in Caddo Valley at Exit 78. Every RVezy host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup covering the generator, water, propane, slide-outs, and dump procedure, and you can message them mid-trip if anything feels off. Start with a smaller Class C motorhome or a campervan rental in Arkadelphia if you're nervous about size. Pro tip: take 15 minutes after pickup to practice turning and backing in an empty lot before heading to your campsite at DeGray Lake.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Arkadelphia%2C%20ArkansasWhat happens if I have a breakdown during my Arkadelphia RV trip?
You're covered around the clock. Every motorhome rental in Arkadelphia booked through RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so a flat tire on US-67, a dead battery near DeGray Lake, or a tow off Scenic Highway 7 is one phone call away from being handled. The roadside team can dispatch help to any of the DeGray Lake campgrounds, Caddo Valley, or anywhere along your route to Hot Springs or Little Rock. If a mechanical issue is on the RV itself, your host is also just a message away to help troubleshoot. Pro tip: snap a photo of your campsite number and the nearest mile marker so dispatch can locate you fast in the wooded Ouachita foothills.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat are some popular road trips I can take from Arkadelphia?
You're sitting on a goldmine of road trip options. Top routes for an RV road trip from Arkadelphia include Hot Springs National Park (about 35 miles north for thermal bathhouses and Gulpha Gorge Campground), Little Rock (roughly 65 miles northeast on Interstate 30 for the Clinton Presidential Library), Crater of Diamonds State Park in Murfreesboro (about 50 miles west, where you can keep any diamond you find), Lake Ouachita State Park (about 60 miles northwest for crystal-clear swimming), and Texarkana (75 miles southwest along Interstate 30). Cross-state travel within the US is allowed on RVezy, but trips into Mexico are not permitted. Pro tip: the Talimena Scenic Byway is reachable in about 2.5 hours for jaw-dropping mountain views.
nps.gov/hosp/index.htmHow much should I budget for fuel on an Arkadelphia RV trip?
Arkansas is consistently one of the more affordable states for gas in the country, which is great news for your fuel budget. Check current AAA averages before your trip for the most accurate per-gallon prices in Arkansas. Expect 8 to 10 miles per gallon (MPG) for a Class A motorhome, 10 to 14 MPG for a Class C, 16 to 20 MPG for a campervan, and your tow vehicle's normal MPG for travel trailers and fifth wheels. A weekend loop from Arkadelphia to Hot Springs and back typically uses a modest amount of fuel for a Class C. Pro tip: fill up in Caddo Valley off Exit 78 where competition keeps prices low.
gasprices.aaa.com/?state=ARHow far ahead should I book a campground near Arkadelphia?
Booking early is the single best move you can make. DeGray Lake Resort State Park accepts campsite reservations well in advance through the Arkansas State Parks reservation system, and Army Corps of Engineers campgrounds like Caddo Drive, Edgewood, Arlie Moore, and Alpine Ridge are reservable up to six months in advance on Recreation.gov. For summer weekends (Memorial Day through Labor Day) and the October foliage peak, book 4 to 6 months out. For shoulder-season weekdays, two weeks is usually plenty. Lake-view sites at DeGray Lake disappear first. Pro tip: if your dream site is taken, use the Recreation.gov notification feature to get alerted the moment someone cancels.
recreation.gov/What are local driving conditions like around Arkadelphia?
Driving around Arkadelphia is genuinely relaxing compared to most metro areas. Interstate 30 is the main artery and stays well-maintained, with the Caddo Valley exit (Exit 78) acting as the gateway to DeGray Lake via Highway 7. Watch for the winding two-lane sections of Scenic Highway 7 north toward Hot Springs, which are gorgeous but require slower speeds in a larger rig. Spring brings occasional thunderstorms, so check forecasts before driving, and summer heat can be intense on long afternoons. Watch for white-tailed deer at dawn and dusk along Highway 7 and rural roads. Pro tip: smaller Class C motorhomes are easier to maneuver on narrow campground access roads than 35-foot Class A rigs.
ardot.gov/What amenities do DeGray Lake campgrounds have for RVs?
Local campgrounds make RV camping in Arkadelphia easy. DeGray Lake Resort State Park offers lakeshore sites with 30-amp electric and water hookups, hot-shower bath houses, a dump station, swim beaches, and a full-service marina. The Army Corps campgrounds (Caddo Drive, Edgewood, Arlie Moore, Alpine Ridge, Shouse Ford) feature electric and water hookups, lakefront sites that fit big rigs, boat ramps, and centralized dump stations. Private RV parks in Caddo Valley typically provide 50-amp full hookups (water, sewer, electric), Wi-Fi, and laundry. Fill potable water at park entrances and dump tanks before departure. Pro tip: there's no sewer at most DeGray sites, so use the central dump station on your way out.
arkansasstateparks.com/parks/degray-lake-resort-state-parkWhat's actually inside an Arkadelphia RV rental?
More than you'd expect. A typical motorhome rental in Arkadelphia comes fully equipped: real beds (queen or king in many Class A and C rigs, plus convertible dinettes and bunks), a kitchen with a propane stove, microwave, refrigerator/freezer, and sink, a private bathroom with toilet and shower, climate control (air conditioning and furnace), a dinette and lounge area, and seatbelts for travel. Most rigs include a flat-screen TV, and many hosts add Wi-Fi hotspots, outdoor speakers, and onboard generators as listed features. Campervans are more compact but typically include a bed, kitchenette, and fridge. Pro tip: read each listing's amenities section carefully and message the host if you need something specific like a CPAP-friendly outlet or a baby-safe sleeping setup for your family RV trip in Arkadelphia.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Arkadelphia%2C%20ArkansasWhat add-ons and pickup options should I expect?
Hosts offer plenty of add-ons to make renting an RV in Arkadelphia feel turnkey. Popular extras include linen and kitchen kits ($25 to $75), camping chairs and outdoor mats, generators or extra propane, bike racks, and even kayaks for paddling DeGray Lake. Pickup is usually at the host's home or a meeting point near Interstate 30, and many offer RV delivery in Arkadelphia for a per-mile fee straight to DeGray Lake Resort State Park or a Corps of Engineers campground. Mileage policies typically range from 100 to 150 free miles per night, with unlimited-mileage rentals also available. Use the Instant Book filter to skip the approval wait. Pro tip: bundle delivery, setup, and a linen package for a true zero-effort first night at camp.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Arkadelphia%2C%20ArkansasHow do payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is simple and secure. Your rental total, taxes, protection plan, and any add-ons are charged through the RVezy platform when you book, so there's no cash exchange with your host. A refundable security deposit is held separately from your booking payment and released after the trip once the host confirms the rig came back in the same condition. To avoid any deposit issues, take date-stamped photos at pickup and drop-off, return the RV with the tanks dumped and fuel topped off, and follow any pet or smoking rules listed in the agreement. Pro tip: do the walk-around video together with the host in the driveway before leaving for DeGray Lake, so you both have a shared record.
