Campgrounds near Crossett, Arkansas
Crossett sits in southeast Arkansas near the Louisiana state line, surrounded by pine bottomland and the Ouachita River system. The town lies close to Felsenthal National Wildlife Refuge, a large expanse of rivers, sloughs, and bottomland hardwood forest that shapes most of the local RV camping options. Public state park campgrounds sit within a short drive in every direction, and private RV parks in and around town serve travelers on US Highway 82.
Moro Bay State Park lies to the northwest, where Raymond Lake meets the Ouachita River, and offers full-hookup RV sites, a marina, and a year-round bathhouse. Chemin-A-Haut State Park sits about 30 miles south across the Louisiana line near Bastrop, on a high bluff over Bayou Bartholomew.
Private options fill in the gaps. The Oaks on Bussey and Bayou Boeuf RV Park serve travelers looking for a quieter stopover, and The Fishing Camp Tackle & RV Park caters to anglers working the local river system. Together, these campgrounds cover most trip styles, from weekend fishing runs to longer regional loops.
Things to do near Crossett
Felsenthal National Wildlife Refuge is the main draw. The refuge protects a wetland network fed by the Ouachita and Saline Rivers, with self-guided land and water routes, boat ramps, and healthy populations of largemouth bass, crappie, bream, and catfish. Fall and winter bring large concentrations of migratory waterfowl into the bottomlands.
Moro Bay State Park adds a marina with boat rentals and fuel, a camp store, a playground, hiking trails, and the Moro Bay Ferry exhibit featuring a historic tugboat and barge. Chemin-A-Haut State Park has a swimming pool open Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, a wading pool, two playgrounds, and a hard-surfaced trail along the high banks of Bayou Bartholomew.
Anglers commonly base out of The Fishing Camp Tackle & RV Park for direct water access, while families tend to gravitate toward the state parks for the pools, playgrounds, and easier facilities.

Spring and fall are the strongest windows for RV travel in the Crossett area. March through May brings mild days, blooming hardwoods, and active fishing, with periodic thunderstorms and saturated ground common through the season. September through November delivers cooler nights, lower humidity, and heavy waterfowl movement into Felsenthal, which draws hunters and birders alike.
Summer is hot and humid, with July and August highs often in the mid 90s. Swimming amenities help: the pool at Chemin-A-Haut State Park runs Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, and lake access at Moro Bay State Park makes long afternoons manageable. Heat and insects push most campers toward shaded, hookup sites.
Winter is mild by regional standards but wet, with periodic flooding across Felsenthal's bottomlands. Moro Bay State Park stays open year-round, and hunters use the state parks as a base for nearby permitted areas holding white-tailed deer, turkey, and waterfowl.
How to book campsites near Crossett
Arkansas State Parks, including Moro Bay, take reservations through arkansasstateparks.com or by phone at 1-888-287-2757. Individual reservations can be made up to 12 months in advance of the arrival date. Camping is capped at a 14-day stay within any 30-day period, check-in is 4:00 p.m. and check-out is 11:00 a.m., and weekend bookings require a two-night minimum, with three nights required on holiday weekends.
Louisiana State Parks, including Chemin-A-Haut, use a central reservation line at 1-877-226-7652 and an online system through the state parks website. A non-refundable transaction fee applies to every reservation.
Private parks such as The Oaks on Bussey, Bayou Boeuf RV Park, and The Fishing Camp Tackle & RV Park generally take direct phone bookings. Reserve holiday weekends and hunting-season openers well in advance.
What to expect on the ground
Moro Bay State Park offers 23 full-hookup sites with 30/50-amp service on level concrete pads sized for larger RVs, plus a year-round heated bathhouse, a marina with boat rentals and fuel, and a camp store stocking ice, firewood, and tackle. Sites sit close together with limited screening between neighbors, and some campers note road noise from the nearby highway and bright overnight lighting.
Chemin-A-Haut State Park has 26 improved campsites with water and electric, a dump station, cabins near the day-use area and along the bayou, and a swimming complex with a wading pool. Some sites sit on a slope and require extra blocking to level.
Cell coverage across the Felsenthal bottomlands is spotty. Crossett itself covers routine grocery needs, and El Dorado is roughly 40 minutes west for larger supply stops.

How much does it cost to rent an RV in Crossett, AR?
An RV rental in Crossett, AR is one of the most affordable ways to explore South Arkansas. On RVezy, you can expect roughly $90 to $175 per night for a travel trailer, $150 to $225 for a Class C motorhome, and $250 and up for larger Class A units. Hosts set their own pricing, so cheap RV rental Crossett options are easiest to find midweek and in the shoulder seasons. To save more, filter by Instant Book, message hosts about multi-night discounts, and consider a delivered trailer so you skip fuel costs. Pro tip: booking 6 to 8 weeks ahead of duck season in November tends to lock in the best rates before hunters fill the Felsenthal area.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Crossett%2C%20ArkansasDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Crossett?
For nearly every RV listed on RVezy, your regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Crossett. Arkansas only requires a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) for vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating over 26,001 pounds, and the vast majority of Class B campervans, Class C motorhomes, and travel trailers in the Crossett area fall well below that threshold. RVezy approved drivers are generally 25 or older, and your ID is verified through the platform during checkout. Visiting from abroad? Bring an International Driving Permit alongside your home license. A Class C in the 24 to 30 foot range is a stress-free pick for an Arkansas adventure.

Plans change, and booking is low-risk. RVezy (not the individual host) sets the cancellation policy for every reservation, including a money-back grace period right after booking, so you can lock in your Crossett RV trip with confidence. Refund eligibility after that depends on factors like how far out your trip is and circumstances such as severe weather, and southeast Arkansas does occasionally see tropical storm remnants in late summer. Reach out to RVezy support anytime through the Help Center for guidance on your specific dates. Tip: book early to secure the best rigs for duck season or spring trips at Felsenthal NWR, knowing flexibility is on your side.

Message your host before booking to confirm the number and size of pets. Pro tip: pack a collapsible bowl and a tie-out stake, summer humidity here can climb fast, so a shaded RV awning doubles as your pup's lounge.
fws.gov/refuge/felsenthalCan the RV be delivered to my campsite in Crossett?
Yes, RV delivery in Crossett is one of the smartest ways to start your trip, especially if it's your first time renting an RV. Many RVezy hosts will tow a travel trailer or fifth wheel right to Crossett Harbor RV Park, a campground inside Felsenthal, or a private property, then level it, hook up water and 30/50-amp power, and walk you through everything before they leave. Use the Delivery filter on RVezy to see hosts offering this service. Delivery fees are usually based on mileage from the host's location. Pro tip: a delivered setup means zero stress about towing or backing in, you just show up, unlock the door, and start the campfire.

Pro tip: book Crossett Harbor 4 to 6 weeks ahead in fall, duck hunters fill it up fast.
arkansasstateparks.com/parks/moro-bay-state-parkWhen is the best time of year for an RV trip from Crossett?
Crossett's humid subtropical climate gives you a long camping season, with the sweet spots being spring (March to May) and fall (late September to early November), when highs sit in a comfortable 65 to 80 degrees F and the bugs back off. Summers are hot and humid, July highs average in the low 90s F with a heat index that can hit triple digits, so you'll want strong air conditioning and shaded sites. Winter is mild (50s by day, upper 30s at night), and November and December are prime for waterfowl viewing at Felsenthal NWR. Pro tip: book an April trip and catch dogwoods blooming through the pine forests, it's stunning.
weather.gov/lzk/I've never rented an RV before, will I be okay in Crossett?
You're going to do great. First time renting an RV is easier than you'd expect, and Crossett is an ideal place to start: traffic is light, US-82 and US-425 are wide and straightforward, and most campgrounds offer pull-through sites. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on walkthrough at pickup covering the generator, slides, water, sewer, propane, and driving tips. You can message your host with questions before booking, and RVezy support is available before, during, and after your trip. Pro tip: pick a 24 to 28 foot Class C for your first Crossett RV trip, it drives much like a large pickup and fits easily in any local site.

You're never on your own. Every RVezy booking in Crossett includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so a flat tire on US-82 west of Felsenthal or a dead battery at the boat ramp gets handled quickly. Your host is also a direct line, most are local and can troubleshoot quirks of their specific rig through a quick phone call or text. RVezy customer support is available around the clock through the Help Center if you need extra help. Pro tip: cell coverage thins out inside Felsenthal National Wildlife Refuge, so screenshot your roadside number and your campground's address before you lose signal.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Crossett RV rental into Louisiana or Mississippi?
Yes, and you should. Crossett sits just a short drive from Louisiana and roughly 50 miles from Mississippi, making cross-state RV road trips from Crossett some of the best in the South. Popular routes include heading south on US-425 to Chemin-A-Haut State Park near Bastrop, LA (about 45 minutes), east on US-82 toward Greenville and Vicksburg, MS (about 2 hours), or north toward central Arkansas. Travel within the United States is allowed; travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals due to insurance coverage limits. Confirm out-of-state plans with your host through the listing's messaging before booking. Pro tip: Vicksburg National Military Park makes a perfect weekend loop from Crossett.

Arkansas consistently ranks among the more affordable states for gasoline, with pump prices often below the national average. For a Class C motorhome averaging 8 to 10 miles per gallon, a 400-mile loop from Crossett to Hot Springs and back will run roughly $120 to $160 in fuel at typical recent prices. Travel trailers towed by your own truck typically yield 10 to 14 MPG. Pro tip: fill up in Crossett or El Dorado before heading deeper into Felsenthal NWR, fuel options inside the refuge area are limited, and stops in Monroe, LA (about 45 minutes south) are often among the cheapest on a regional loop.

Crossett isn't as competitive as the national parks, so you've got flexibility. For the best campgrounds near Crossett like Crossett Harbor RV Park, 2 to 4 weeks ahead is usually plenty for spring and summer. For peak duck season (mid-November through January) and weekends overlapping a holiday, aim for 6 to 8 weeks ahead, Felsenthal-area sites fill quickly with hunters. State parks like Moro Bay and Chemin-A-Haut take reservations through their official park systems well in advance. Pro tip: midweek arrivals (Sunday or Monday) almost always have walk-up availability, even in peak season.
arkansasstateparks.com/parks/moro-bay-state-parkWhat are the driving conditions like around Crossett?
Driving an RV around Crossett is refreshingly easy. The main routes, US-82 (east-west) and US-425 (north-south), are flat, wide highways through pine forests with minimal traffic and no mountain grades to worry about. The biggest things to watch for are sudden afternoon thunderstorms in summer (pull over and wait them out), occasional deer at dawn and dusk along forest stretches, and logging trucks since Crossett is known as the Forestry Capital of the South. Winter ice is rare but possible in January. Pro tip: avoid narrow gravel roads inside Felsenthal NWR with anything over 25 feet, stick to paved access points off US-82 for the easiest in-and-out with your RV.

Moro Bay State Park provides electric service, a marina, and a camp store. Most local parks have potable water fill stations and dump stations available even to non-staying guests for a small fee. Popular add-ons listed on RVezy include linen and towel packages, kitchen kits, camp chairs and tables, generators for boondocking, bike racks, fishing gear (very popular for Felsenthal trips), kayak and canoe carriers, and even pre-stocked groceries from some hosts. Pickup and dropoff are typically at the host's home in or near Crossett, with delivery available for a mileage-based fee. Mileage policies vary, most hosts include 100 to 150 free miles per day with overage charged per mile. Pro tip: ask about a fishing rod add-on, the bream and bass fishing in the Felsenthal pool is legendary.
agfc.com/fishing/where-to-fish/How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy in Crossett?
Payment is simple and secure. You pay through RVezy when you book, no cash exchanged with the host, using a credit or debit card, and the platform handles everything. A refundable security deposit is held separately from your booking payment (typically a few hundred to a few thousand dollars depending on the rig) and released after your trip once the host confirms the RV came back in good shape. To avoid issues: do a thorough walk-around video with your host at pickup and dropoff, return with a similar fuel and propane level, and empty the tanks if your agreement requires it. Pro tip: keep gas receipts from your last fill-up in Crossett or El Dorado as easy proof you topped off before returning.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhat's a hidden gem locals love near Crossett?
Here's an insider tip most visitors miss: the Wiggins Cabin and Old Town Park in downtown Crossett tell the story of the city's early 1900s logging origins, and just a few miles south is the Crossett Experimental Forest, one of the oldest experimental pine forests in the country, with quiet trails managed by the U.S. Forest Service. Pair it with a sunset drive into Felsenthal NWR off US-82, where you can watch alligators and wood ducks in the green-tree reservoir. It's the kind of slow-Arkansas afternoon that makes a family RV trip Crossett unforgettable. Bring binoculars and bug spray, both pay off here.
