Fayetteville experiences a humid subtropical climate, characterized by hot summers and cold winters with strong seasonal contrasts, and the area is fairly wet, with precipitation generally wetter in spring, though occasional snowfall occurs. The best time of year to visit Fayetteville is April to May and September to October, though spring also brings the region's most active severe-thunderstorm and tornado weather.
Summer brings heat and humidity. The warmest month is typically July, with an average high of 89°F, and afternoon thunderstorms are frequent. Lake campgrounds fill on weekends from Memorial Day through Labor Day, so Corps sites should be booked well ahead.
Winter is quieter but functional. Devil's Den State Park stays open year-round for camping, though seasonal amenities close: the pool is open in summer only and the cafe and park store run on shortened schedules. Overnight lows near or below freezing are common from December through February, so freshwater hoses and tanks need to be managed.

Scott was great to work with and adjusted our last minute add on date. Very communicative and would recommend booking with him again. RV was great, well maintained, clean and perfect for our family too getaway for vacation. Would definitely book him again in the future!

We stayed over Memorial Day weekend with our family and had the BEST experience! We rented an RV for 3 adults and 3 kids, and it was the perfect size with plenty of room for everyone. Everything was super clean and fully stocked — pillows, bedding, and honestly anything you could possibly need was included. But our absolute favorite part was the outdoor kitchen. I genuinely don’t think we can ever rent an RV again without one now! The griddle was AMAZING and made cooking so easy and fun. We’ve officially become bougie RV campers now. 😂 Could not have asked for a better stay. Highly recommend!

How to book campgrounds near Elm Springs
Corps of Engineers campgrounds on Beaver Lake, including Hickory Creek, Horseshoe Bend, Lost Bridge, Prairie Creek, Rocky Branch, and the Dam Site campgrounds, are booked through Recreation.gov. Beaver Lake is a popular destination and campground reservations typically open several months in advance, so summer weekends should be locked in early. Camping at any one site on Beaver Lake for longer than 14 days in any 30-day period is prohibited without written permission from the District Commander.
Arkansas State Parks, including Devil's Den, are reserved through the arkansasstateparks.com system or by calling the park directly. Horse camp sites at Devil's Den typically require a phone reservation.
Private parks such as The Creeks Golf and RV Resort, Rocky Springs RV Ranch, Southgate RV Park of Fayetteville, Monte Ne RV Park, and Hog Valley RV and Treehouse Resort take direct bookings through their own websites or by phone.
What to expect on the ground
Terrain is rolling Ozark foothills with hardwood forest, limestone bluffs, and clear creeks. Cell coverage is strong across the Springdale, Fayetteville, and Rogers corridor and weaker in the state park hollows and along back roads toward Beaver Lake's south shore.
Corps campgrounds on Beaver Lake are developed but rustic. Sites have plenty of shade and room for activities, with fire rings, picnic areas, drinking water and flush toilets, and many are steps from the shoreline. Check-out time at Beaver Lake campgrounds is 1:00 p.m. and check-in remains 4:00 p.m., giving crews time to clean sites between stays.
Expect ticks and chiggers from spring through early fall, occasional severe-weather watches in spring, and busy interstate traffic along I-49 through the metro.
