Campgrounds near Gould, Arkansas
Gould sits in the Arkansas Delta of southeast Arkansas, off U.S. Highway 65 between Pine Bluff and Lake Village. The surrounding landscape is flat farmland cut by bayous, rice fields, and the Mississippi River levee, and camping options within an easy drive lean heavily on lake-oriented state parks and small private RV parks along the highway corridor.
The anchor destination is Lake Chicot State Park, roughly an hour southeast near Lake Village, set on the largest natural lake in Arkansas and the largest oxbow lake in North America. Closer to Gould, Pecan Grove RV Park, H and G RV Park and Campground, and Dub'l R RV Park serve travelers moving along the U.S. 65 corridor with full-hookup sites suited to overnight and short stays.
Across the Mississippi River, Leroy Percy State Park near Hollandale offers a second state-park option with cabins, RV sites, and an adjoining wildlife management area. Together these locations give RV travelers a mix of destination camping and practical highway stopovers.
Things to do near Gould
Fishing dominates the region. Lake Chicot is known for crappie, largemouth bass, bream, and catfish, with peak crappie and bass action on the upper end of the lake in spring and fall and catfish available year-round. Boat ramps, a launch, and a marina with rentals are on-site at the state park.
Birding is a strong secondary draw. The lake sits in the Mississippi Flyway, producing sightings of bald eagles, pelicans, herons, and migratory waterfowl. Lake and levee tours run out of Lake Chicot State Park, and the Delta Woodlands Trail offers an easy hike through bottomland hardwoods.
At Leroy Percy State Park, visitors can watch alligators from observation towers, walk the Alligator Lake Trail, and play the 18-hole disc golf course. Seasonal hunting for deer, squirrel, duck, and dove is permitted in the adjacent wildlife area.
