Camping near Green Forest, Arkansas
Green Forest sits in Carroll County in the heart of the Arkansas Ozarks, roughly 20 minutes east of Eureka Springs and about an hour south of Branson, Missouri. The town works well as an RV base because it lands within short driving distance of Beaver Lake, Table Rock Lake, and the White River, plus the Buffalo National River corridor to the south.
RV renters typically stage here to reach a mix of Army Corps of Engineers lakeshore parks around Table Rock Lake, which winds through the valleys of the Ozark Mountains from Branson, Missouri to Eureka Springs, Arkansas, private full-hookup resorts, and river-access campgrounds along the Kings River. Terrain is rolling Ozark hills with oak and hickory forest, and Green Forest sits at about 1,335 feet in elevation.
Nearby options range from lake-focused parks such as Ozarks RV Resort on Table Rock Lake and Ozark View RV Park to full-service stops like Harrison KOA Holiday, plus river-adjacent choices including Kings River Hitchin’ Post RV and Campground and JB Trading Co. The mix covers big rigs, mid-size Class Cs, and smaller travel trailers.
Things to do near Green Forest
Water recreation drives most trips. Table Rock Lake, winding through the Ozark Mountains from Branson to Eureka Springs, is a draw for boaters, scuba divers, campers, and fishermen, while the Kings River and White River are known for float trips, smallmouth bass, and trout. Beaver Lake, west of town, adds striped and largemouth bass fishing.
On land, the Buffalo National River provides hiking, paddling, and elk viewing near Ponca and Pruitt. Eureka Springs, about 20 miles west, has a walkable historic downtown, Thorncrown Chapel, and Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge. Families often day-trip north to Branson for Silver Dollar City, the Titanic Museum, and dinner shows.
Shorter outings from Green Forest include Mystic Caverns, War Eagle Mill, and scenic drives on Highway 23 and Highway 62.

Spring and fall are the strongest RV windows. April and May bring wildflowers, full waterfalls, and moderate temperatures, but May is the wettest month, averaging around 148 mm of precipitation over roughly 13 rainy days, and severe thunderstorms are common; check flood advisories before booking creekside sites. Fall, roughly mid-October through early November, delivers Ozark hardwood color and cooler nights that pair well with campfires.
Summer is peak season on Table Rock Lake and along the rivers. Sites at Corps of Engineers parks and popular private resorts fill weeks in advance around Memorial Day, July 4, and Labor Day. July temperatures average a high near 89°F and a low near 68°F, with high humidity and afternoon storms.
Winter is quiet. Many private campgrounds reduce services or close between December and February, though several stay open year-round for extended-stay guests. January is the coldest month, with average lows near 29°F and highs around 44°F, so freezing nights are common and water hookups may be shut off at some parks. Confirm winter status directly with the campground.
How to book near Green Forest
Reservations for Corps of Engineers parks around Table Rock Lake are made at Recreation.gov. A booking window of six months out is standard for Corps sites, and holiday weekends often sell out the moment reservations open.
Arkansas State Parks use their own reservation portal at ArkansasStateParks.com, with reservations accepted up to 12 months in advance. Private parks such as Ozarks RV Resort on Table Rock Lake, Harrison KOA Holiday, Ozark View RV Park, Kings River Hitchin’ Post RV and Campground, and JB Trading Co book direct through their websites or by phone. For summer weekends, reserve eight to twelve weeks ahead. Note that a three-night minimum is required at Arkansas State Parks when a holiday causes a three-day weekend, including Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day.
What to expect on-site
Private RV parks in the Green Forest area typically offer 30/50-amp full hookups, laundry, Wi-Fi of varying reliability, and a dump station. Harrison KOA Holiday adds cabins, a pool, and family amenities, while Ozarks RV Resort on Table Rock Lake caters to lake-focused stays. Ozark View RV Park and JB Trading Co lean smaller and simpler.
Corps of Engineers campgrounds on Table Rock generally provide electric and water at the site, centralized dump stations, showers, and lake access, but not sewer at individual sites. Cell service is inconsistent in valleys and along the Buffalo River.
Roads into some lake and river parks are narrow and winding with steep grades. Renters in Class A or larger fifth-wheels should confirm site length and access route with the campground before arrival.

How much does an RV rental in Green Forest cost on average?
Green Forest is one of the more affordable Ozarks basecamps for an RV rental. On RVezy, travel trailers near Green Forest typically start around $95 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes run about $175 to $275, and larger Class A rigs land between $250 and $400. Booking three to four weeks ahead during peak summer locks in the best inventory at the friendliest rates.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Green%20Forest%2C%20ArkansasWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Green Forest, Arkansas?
For nearly every RV rental in Green Forest, your regular driver's license is all you need. Arkansas issues a standard Class D license that covers any non-commercial vehicle, and almost every Class B campervan, Class C motorhome, travel trailer, and fifth wheel on RVezy falls well under the 26,000-pound threshold where a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) would apply. RVezy approved drivers are generally required to be at least 25 years old, and ID verification happens right inside the platform during checkout. Visiting from outside the US? Bring your home-country license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) and you are set. Most first-time renters are surprised how simple the paperwork really is.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsIs insurance and roadside assistance included with my Green Forest RV rental?
Yes, every RVezy booking in Green Forest includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can roll toward the Buffalo National River with real peace of mind. Protection plans are offered by RVezy directly (not set by the host) and cover most damages to the RV during your trip. At checkout you choose the protection level that fits your trip, whether you want basic coverage or maximum peace of mind for a family motorhome rental in Green Forest. If a tire goes flat on Highway 62 or the battery dies at a trailhead, one call connects you with roadside help. Full coverage details are listed on the RVezy insurance and protection page before you book.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionWhat if my plans change, can I cancel my Green Forest RV booking?
Booking is low-risk because RVezy (not individual hosts) sets the cancellation policy for every RV rental in Arkansas. There is a money-back grace period right after you book so you can lock in a great rig with confidence. After that window, refund amounts depend on how far out your trip starts and the protection plan you selected at checkout. If a host ever cancels on you, RVezy refunds your booking or helps you rebook a comparable RV. Full policy details live in the RVezy Help Center and in your booking confirmation. Pro tip: reach out to RVezy support as soon as plans shift, the earlier you communicate, the more flexibility you have.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Green Forest?
Bring the pup, the Ozarks are made for dogs. Plenty of hosts offer a pet-friendly RV rental in Green Forest, just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy to see them instantly. Once you arrive, leashed dogs are welcome at Withrow Springs State Park, on roads and developed areas inside Buffalo National River (pets are not permitted on most park trails, with a few exceptions like the Buffalo River Trail and Lost Valley), and at Lake Leatherwood City Park in nearby Eureka Springs. Some hosts charge a small pet cleaning fee (usually $25 to $75), which the listing displays before you book. Pack a tie-out, a collapsible water bowl, and a towel for muddy paws after a creek dip, then point the rig toward Kings River for a tail-wagging weekend.
nps.gov/buff/planyourvisit/pets.htmCan the RV be delivered to my campground in Green Forest?
Yes, RV delivery in Green Forest is one of the smartest ways to start a trip, especially if you have never towed before. Many local hosts will drive the RV directly to your campground (popular drop spots include Withrow Springs State Park, Lake Leatherwood, and private parks around Eureka Springs), level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system. Delivery fees typically run $2 to $4 per mile from the host's home base, and some hosts offer free delivery within a set radius. Message the host through the listing to confirm your exact destination and fees. For a first time renting an RV, having it set up and ready when you arrive removes most of the stress.
arkansasstateparks.com/parks/withrow-springs-state-parkHow does mileage work and how far can I drive on my Green Forest RV trip?
Mileage is straightforward and you have plenty of room to roam the Ozarks. Each RVezy host sets their own daily mileage allowance (commonly 100 to 150 free miles per day), with extra miles billed at a per-mile rate shown on the listing before you book. Some hosts offer an RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is gold for a long Green Forest RV trip looping through Branson, Bentonville, or down to Hot Springs. To put it in perspective: Eureka Springs is about 18 miles west, Branson Missouri is roughly 55 miles north, Buffalo National River put-ins are 35 to 50 miles south, and Bentonville is about 70 miles west. Filter for unlimited mileage if you are planning big loops.

You are surrounded by some of the best campgrounds in the Ozarks. Top picks for RV camping in Green Forest include Withrow Springs State Park (about 20 miles south along the War Eagle River, with electric and water hookups), Wanderlust RV Resort in Eureka Springs (a tree-shaded favorite with paved full-hookup pads about 16 miles west), Kettle Campground near the Great Passion Play (great for families visiting Eureka Springs), and Steel Creek and Tyler Bend campgrounds inside Buffalo National River for a more rustic riverside vibe. Book Withrow Springs through ArkansasStateParks.com and any Buffalo National River sites through Recreation.gov well ahead, especially for fall foliage weekends in October.
arkansasstateparks.com/parks/withrow-springs-state-parkWhen is the best time to rent an RV in Green Forest?
Spring and fall steal the show in this corner of Arkansas. The sweet spot for an RV rental Arkansas trip near Green Forest is mid-April through early June, when highs typically reach 70 to 82 degrees Fahrenheit and dogwoods bloom across the Ozarks, and again from late September through early November when fall colors usually peak around the third week of October. Summer (June through August) brings warm, humid 85 to 92 degree days, great for floating the Kings River but tougher on midday hiking. Winter dips to lows near 28 degrees with occasional snow, so look for an RV with a propane furnace if you book December through February. Local insider tip: reserve early for popular Eureka Springs festival weekends in May and October.
weather.gov/tsa/I have never rented an RV before, will I be okay driving one around Green Forest?
You will absolutely be okay, and your host has your back. Every RVezy host gives a full walkthrough at pickup covering driving, dumping tanks, the generator, slide-outs, and propane, so you leave knowing your rig inside and out. If you are nervous about narrow Ozark roads or the twisty climb up Highway 23 (locally called the Pig Trail), pick a travel trailer the host delivers, or choose a smaller Class C motorhome in the 24 to 28 foot range, which handles like a big van. Green Forest itself sits on flat, easy Highway 62, so practice runs are stress-free. Message the host any question before booking; they love helping first-timers who become repeat renters.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/categories/360002729493-For-RentersWhat happens if something goes wrong with the RV during my trip?
Help is one phone call away, around the clock. Every RV rental in Green Forest, AR comes with 24/7 roadside assistance included with your RVezy protection plan, covering flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, fuel delivery, and towing. Your host is also reachable directly through the RVezy app for quick questions about how a specific switch or appliance works. If a slide refuses to retract at Withrow Springs or you get a check-engine light heading to Branson, contact roadside assistance first for mechanical issues, then loop in your host and RVezy support. Save all three contacts in your phone before you leave the driveway. Most issues are minor and sorted within an hour or two, so your Ozark adventure barely skips a beat.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionWhat are the best road trips I can take from Green Forest in my rental RV?
Green Forest is a launchpad for some of the South's best RV road trips. Popular routes from here include: Eureka Springs and Beaver Lake (about 18 miles west, a perfect overnight); Branson, Missouri and Table Rock Lake (roughly 55 miles north for country music and lakefront RV parks); Buffalo National River at Tyler Bend or Steel Creek (50 to 70 miles south, America's first national river); Bentonville and Crystal Bridges Museum (about 70 miles west); and Hot Springs National Park (around 200 miles south for thermal baths and Bathhouse Row). Cross-border travel into Missouri is fine on RVezy, but trips to Mexico are not permitted. For Canadian travel, confirm with your host and RVezy support before booking since coverage can vary.
nps.gov/buff/index.htmHow much will fuel cost for my Green Forest RV trip?
Fuel is easy to budget once you know your rig. Expect roughly 8 to 10 miles per gallon (MPG) for Class A motorhomes, 10 to 14 MPG for Class C, 16 to 20 MPG for Class B campervans, and similar MPG to your tow vehicle for travel trailers. Gas prices in Carroll County usually track close to or slightly below the national average, with stations in Green Forest, Berryville, and Harrison being the most affordable along your route. A typical 4-day, 300-mile loop to Buffalo National River and back in a Class C costs roughly $90 to $130 in fuel at current prices. Pro tip: fill up in Green Forest or Harrison before heading into Buffalo River country, where gas stations get sparse and pricier.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Green Forest?
The earlier the better, but you have more flexibility than you might think. For Arkansas State Parks like Withrow Springs and Hobbs, reservations open up to 13 months in advance through ArkansasStateParks.com, and prime weekends in May, October, and holiday weeks fill 2 to 4 months ahead. Buffalo National River sites are booked through Recreation.gov, with reservation windows opening 6 months in advance. Private parks around Eureka Springs typically need 3 to 6 weeks of lead time for summer Saturdays. Insider tip: midweek arrivals (Sunday to Wednesday) almost always have openings, even last minute. If you strike out online, ask your host since many know smaller private RV sites that rarely show up in major booking systems.
arkansasstateparks.com/reservationsWhat are the local driving conditions like around Green Forest?
Driving around Green Forest is friendlier than most Ozark towns. Highway 62 through town is wide, mostly flat, and easy for any size RV, and Highway 412 east toward Harrison has long four-lane stretches. The trickier roads are the scenic ones: Highway 23 (the Pig Trail) and Highway 7 wind through tight switchbacks better suited to rigs under 30 feet. Watch for white-tailed deer at dawn and dusk year-round, and slow down for sudden summer thunderstorms that can drop heavy rain fast. Spring (April to May) is peak severe-weather season in this region, so check the National Weather Service forecast each morning. Cell service drops in Buffalo River canyons, so download offline maps before you leave Green Forest.
ardot.gov/travel-information/What amenities can I expect at campgrounds near Green Forest?
You will find a great mix from full-hookup comfort to back-to-nature simplicity. Private parks like Wanderlust RV Resort in Eureka Springs and Kettle Campground offer 30/50-amp electric, water, sewer, Wi-Fi, laundry, and hot showers. Arkansas State Parks such as Withrow Springs provide water and electric hookups with a central dump station and clean bathhouses. Buffalo National River campgrounds (Steel Creek, Tyler Bend) are more rustic with vault or flush toilets and no hookups, perfect for self-contained rigs. Fill fresh water before leaving Green Forest, especially if you are heading into the Buffalo River backcountry where potable water can be limited, and confirm dump station access at your host's home base or your campground.
arkansasstateparks.com/parks/withrow-springs-state-parkWhat features and amenities do RVs near Green Forest typically include?
You will find your home-on-wheels well-equipped. Most motorhome rentals in Green Forest sleep 4 to 8 across queen beds, convertible dinettes, and bunk options, with a full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink), a wet or dry bathroom with shower, roof AC, propane furnace, and seatbelts for every passenger. Travel trailers and fifth wheels offer similar layouts without the drive cab. Many listings include a generator, outdoor speakers, awnings, and outdoor kitchens. TVs and Wi-Fi hotspots are common in newer rigs, though signal fades in the Buffalo River canyons. Check the listing's amenity list carefully and message the host if you need something specific for your family RV trip in Green Forest, like a high chair or a child booster seat.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Green%20Forest%2C%20ArkansasWhat add-ons and pickup options are available when I rent an RV in Green Forest?
Hosts make it easy to customize your trip. Common add-ons for an RV rental in Green Forest include kitchen kits ($25 to $50), linens and bedding packages ($35 to $75), camp chairs and tables, outdoor grills, generators, bike racks, and even paddleboards for Beaver Lake. Pickup happens at the host's location or via delivery to your campground (popular spots include Withrow Springs, Lake Leatherwood, and Eureka Springs RV parks). Walkthroughs typically take 30 to 45 minutes so you can ask questions before driving off. Mileage policies, delivery fees, and pet fees are shown on every listing. Pro tip: bundle delivery, setup, and a generator if you are heading to a no-hookup site along the Buffalo River, it pays for itself in convenience.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Green%20Forest%2C%20ArkansasHow do payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is simple and secure, no cash handoffs required. When you book an RV rental in Green Forest, RVezy charges your card for the rental total at confirmation, then places a separate refundable security deposit hold (typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV class) a few days before your trip starts. The deposit is released after the host confirms the RV came back clean, on time, with fuel topped off, and undamaged. To avoid issues, take timestamped photos at pickup and dropoff, follow the host's fuel and dump-tank instructions, and message anything that comes up during the trip in the RVezy app so there is a clear record. Most renters get their full deposit back within a few days.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksCan I rent an RV in Green Forest during winter and is cold-weather camping possible?
Yes, winter RVing in the Ozarks is a quietly amazing experience. Green Forest winters average highs around 47 degrees Fahrenheit and lows near 28, with occasional snow and the rare ice storm. Many RVezy hosts keep their rigs available year-round, especially Class C motorhomes and four-season travel trailers with heated holding tanks, enclosed underbellies, and propane furnaces. Look for listings that mention heated tanks and shore-power capability so you can plug into 30/50-amp service at parks that stay open all winter. Trout fishing on the White River, eagle watching at Beaver Lake, and crowd-free hikes at Buffalo National River make a December campervan rental in Green Forest a memorable adventure. Bring extra propane and you are set for a cozy trip.
