Campgrounds and RV parks near Greers Ferry, AR

The lake is the main attraction. Boating, swimming, tubing, kayaking, and paddleboarding are the core summer activities, and several marinas around the lake rent boats to visitors who do not own one. Anglers target largemouth, smallmouth, and spotted bass, walleye, hybrid striped bass, crappie, and bream in the clear Ozark water. Below the dam, the Little Red River is a world-class tailwater trout fishery that once produced a world-record brown trout and offers rainbow and brown trout fishing year-round. A federal hatchery supports the stocking program. On land, the Sugar Loaf Mountain nature trail is 1.6 miles in length and winds up the mountain, providing hikers with views of the lake from roughly 500 feet above the water. Other local trails include Buckeye, Collins Creek, Josh Park Memorial, and Mossy Bluff. Corps day-use areas also offer swim beaches and picnic shelters.

Peak season runs Memorial Day through Labor Day. Water temperatures are warm, marinas and swim beaches are open, and Corps campgrounds run at full capacity. Summer daytime highs routinely sit in the upper 80s to low 90s, with warm, humid nights. Lakefront sites book out well in advance for holiday weekends and mid-summer. Spring is mild and green but wet. May is the wettest month of the year in the area, averaging around 134 mm of rainfall, and severe weather including thunderstorms and occasional tornadoes is possible through spring and early summer. April and early May are strong picks for cooler-weather camping and wildflowers, provided travelers watch the forecast. Fall brings some of the most comfortable weather of the year. September through October features warm days, cool nights, lower humidity, and thinning crowds after Labor Day. Several Corps facilities such as Old Highway 25 and Shiloh operate only from mid-May through mid-September, while year-round camping is available at select locations including Heber Springs and John F. Kennedy campgrounds. Winter is quiet and chilly with frost most nights, and a limited number of sites stay open year-round, mostly at private RV parks.

Corps campgrounds around Greers Ferry Lake are developed but rustic. Larger parks such as Dam Site, Heber Springs, Devils Fork, and John F. Kennedy offer electric or electric-and-water sites, most have dump stations, and many sites accept big rigs. Expect paved or gravel pads, picnic tables, fire rings, flush toilets, and hot showers. Many parks are laid out in lettered loops with a mix of shaded, wooded sites and open lakefront pads. Cell service reaches most areas but is not universal. Private RV parks in the area lean toward longer pull-throughs, full hookups, Wi-Fi, and on-site cabins for guests traveling with extended family. Amenities such as laundry, camp stores, and playgrounds vary by property. Roads into shoreline campgrounds can be narrow and hilly, so larger rigs should confirm site length and access on the reservation page. Wildlife includes deer, raccoons, and the occasional armadillo, so food should be stored securely.
