Campgrounds and RV parks near Guy, AR

The centerpiece of Woolly Hollow State Park is 40-acre Lake Bennett, a no-wake lake suited to kayaking, canoeing, pedal boating, and fishing. A seasonal lifeguarded swimming beach opens in the warm months, and park facilities include 30 Class AAA campsites, 10 tent sites, and a bathhouse with hot showers. History fans can visit the Woolly Cabin, an original one-room family homestead. Mountain bikers have the 9.4-mile Enders Fault Trail plus a North Loop and South Loop of roughly five miles each, and hikers can choose from several trails including the Huckleberry Trail circling the lake. Beyond the park, day trips reach Greers Ferry Lake to the north for boating, striper fishing, and swim beaches. Conway adds groceries, restaurants, and RV service if a resupply is needed.

Peak camping season runs from spring through fall. March through May brings wildflowers and mild days that are popular with hikers, but this is also the wettest stretch of the year, with May averaging around 170 mm of rain and severe thunderstorms possible. Tornado activity in central Arkansas peaks in spring, so pay attention to watches and warnings. Summer is hot and humid, with afternoon highs regularly in the low 90s and heat indices that can climb higher. Lake Bennett is a welcome cool-off, and families targeting swim days should plan around the seasonal lifeguarded beach schedule. Fall brings cooler nights, lower humidity, and color in the hardwoods, generally the most comfortable time for RV travel. Winter is short but cool and wet. Woolly Hollow's campground stays open year-round, though some day-use facilities operate on reduced hours. Freezing nights are common in January, so winterize water lines and expect the occasional ice or snow event.

At Woolly Hollow, expect a compact, well-maintained state park layout. The campground offers 30 Class AAA sites with full hookups including water, sewer, and 50-amp electric on paved, level pads that accommodate RVs up to 60 feet. Ten additional tent sites have no hookups, and a modern bathhouse with hot showers plus a dump station near site 21 round out the facilities. Pets are allowed on leash. Private parks in the area lean small and quiet, with Hilltop RV Resort located just off U.S. 65 between Conway and Greenbrier. Expect gravel or concrete pads at most private parks, minimal on-site amenities beyond hookups and laundry, and easy highway access rather than deep-woods seclusion. Ticks and chiggers are common in Faulkner County woodlands, so store food properly and check for ticks after time on the trails.
