Camping near Hot Springs Village, Arkansas
Hot Springs Village sits in the Ouachita Mountains of central Arkansas, roughly 20 minutes north of the city of Hot Springs and Hot Springs National Park. The community spans about 26,000 acres of the Ouachita foothills, and while the gated Village itself is residential, RV travelers use it as a jumping-off point for national park camping, off-road parks, and lakeside sites in the surrounding hills.
Most RV options cluster to the south, closer to the city of Hot Springs. Gulpha Gorge Campground sits inside Hot Springs National Park on the east side of town, while Hot Springs National Park KOA Holiday and J and J RV Park and Storage handle longer-stay and family bookings. Hot Springs Off-Road Park and Ron Coleman Mining RV Park pair camping with on-site activities, off-road trails and crystal digging respectively.
Expect wooded, hilly terrain, humid subtropical weather, and a busy late-fall-through-spring booking pattern driven by the national park, Oaklawn racing season, and the Village's lakes and golf courses.
Things to do around Hot Springs Village
Water and golf drive most trips. Hot Springs Village has 11 recreational lakes, nine golf courses, and about 30 miles of trails threading through the hills, with two full-service marinas offering boat and paddle rentals. Swimming beaches sit on the larger lakes, and bass, catfish, and sunfish are commonly stocked.
South of the Village, Hot Springs National Park anchors the day-trip list, with 26 miles of trails plus Bathhouse Row, the Hot Springs Mountain Tower, and thermal-water bathhouses in the historic district. Ron Coleman Mining lets guests dig for quartz crystals on site, and Hot Springs Off-Road Park draws Jeep, side-by-side, and dirt-bike riders. Lake Ouachita, Lake Catherine, and Lake Hamilton add larger reservoirs for boating within a short drive.

Spring and late fall are the sweet spots. March through May brings wildflowers, green Ouachita ridgelines, and the busiest stretch of Oaklawn's live thoroughbred meet in Hot Springs, so RV parks fill on weekends. Rainfall peaks in spring, with May averaging around 149 mm and frequent thunderstorms.
Summer is hot and humid. July is the warmest month, with an average high near 92°F and an average low near 71°F. Lake days, early-morning hikes, and shaded campsites work best, and midday trail time in the national park can be uncomfortable. Biting insects are active from late spring into early fall.
Fall cools quickly through October and November, with lower humidity and hardwood color across the Ouachitas. Winter is mild but wet. January is the coldest month, with an average high near 49°F and a low near 33°F. Gulpha Gorge stays open year-round, though some private parks reduce services in January and February.

How to book a campsite
Gulpha Gorge Campground, the only campground inside Hot Springs National Park, is reservation based. Hot Springs National Park accepts online reservations for all 40 sites at Gulpha Gorge through recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777. Sites are bookable up to 6 months in advance on a rolling window, and the campground tends to fill quickly even in fall and winter, so early booking is recommended.
Private parks including Hot Springs National Park KOA Holiday, J and J RV Park and Storage, Ron Coleman Mining RV Park, and Hot Springs Off-Road Park book directly through their own websites or by phone. For spring race meets at Oaklawn and holiday weekends, book two to three months out. Verify rig-length limits, hookup type, and cancellation policy at time of booking.
What to expect on the ground
Roads into Gulpha Gorge are paved and one-way, but sites are set among trees on rolling terrain, so long fifth wheels should confirm site length and turn-in angle before arrival. All 40 sites have full hookups with 30- and 50-amp electric, water, and sewer, and none are pull-through. There are three restroom facilities, one with a shower, and cell service in the gorge can be spotty.
Inside Hot Springs Village itself, gate access and lake use are managed by the property owners association. Non-resident boats need a lake use decal or a daily permit available at each boat ramp. Bring bug spray from May through September, a rain plan for spring storms, and a park pass if you plan to use national park facilities repeatedly.

The protection plan covers most physical damage to the RV during your trip, and you choose the level of coverage that fits you best at checkout. help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat is the cancellation policy if my Hot Springs Village RV trip changes?
Booking is low-risk because RVezy sets a standardized cancellation policy for every rental in Hot Springs Village, not the individual host. There is a money-back grace period right after booking, and the refund amount after that depends on how far in advance you cancel. You will see the exact terms that apply to your reservation in your trip details before you pay. That clarity means you can lock in a Hot Springs Village RV trip for spring break or Oaklawn racing season today and still understand your options if your plans shift.

Absolutely, plenty of pet-friendly RV rentals in Hot Springs Village welcome dogs, and you can filter directly for the Pet-Friendly tag on RVezy to see only those listings. Once you arrive, your pup will love it here: Hot Springs National Park allows leashed dogs on every one of its 26 miles of trails, including the Sunset Trail and the walk along Bathhouse Row. Gulpha Gorge Campground and Lake Catherine State Park both allow leashed pets at campsites too. Pro tip: message the host before booking if you have a large breed or more than one dog, so everyone's on the same page before pickup.
nps.gov/hosp/planyourvisit/pets.htmCan the RV be delivered to my campsite in Hot Springs Village?
Yes, RV delivery in Hot Springs Village is one of the most popular options on RVezy, and it is a game-changer if it is your first time renting an RV. Many local hosts will drive the rig straight to Gulpha Gorge Campground, Lake Catherine State Park, a private cabin driveway in the Village, or other approved sites, then level it, hook up power and water, and walk you through every system. Just use the Delivery filter on the search results and enter your destination address. Pro tip: delivery is especially handy if you are flying into Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport in Little Rock and prefer to skip the tow.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Hot%20Springs%20Village%2C%20ArkansasHow does mileage work and how far can I drive from Hot Springs Village?
Mileage policies are set by each host, and you will see the daily allowance or unlimited mileage option right on the listing before you book, so there are no surprises. Some Hot Springs Village hosts offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is ideal for a longer Arkansas loop. From the Village, you are about 25 minutes to downtown Hot Springs, roughly 1 hour to Little Rock, about 1.5 hours to Petit Jean State Park, around 2.5 hours to Crater of Diamonds State Park in Murfreesboro, and roughly 4 hours to Buffalo National River in the Ozarks. Pro tip: estimate your route in advance and ask the host to bundle extra miles into the booking, which is usually cheaper than the overage rate.
arkansasstateparks.com/Where are the best campgrounds near Hot Springs Village for an RV?
You have great options here. Top campgrounds near Hot Springs Village include Gulpha Gorge Campground inside Hot Springs National Park (full-hookup sites along Gulpha Creek, just minutes from Bathhouse Row), Catherine's Landing on Lake Catherine for resort-style RV camping, Lake Catherine State Park for water and electric sites with a swim beach, Lake Ouachita State Park about 35 minutes west for clear-water swimming and trails, and a number of private RV parks along Highway 7 toward Hot Springs. Pro tip: Gulpha Gorge sites can be reserved on Recreation.gov on a rolling window, and the creek-side spots book out fastest.
recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/247559When is the best time of year for RV camping in Hot Springs Village?
Hot Springs Village is genuinely a year-round RV destination thanks to its mild Ouachita Mountain climate, but spring (mid-March through May) and fall (late September through early November) are the sweet spots. You'll see daytime highs in the 65 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit range, dogwoods and redbuds blooming in April, and brilliant oak and hickory color in October. Summers run hot and humid with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s, perfect for lake days on Lake Hamilton and Lake Ouachita. Winters are mild, with highs in the 50s and only occasional freezes, so RV camping in Hot Springs Village stays comfortable even in January around Oaklawn's live racing season.
weather.gov/lzk/I have never driven an RV before. Will I be okay in Hot Springs Village?
You will be in great shape, especially here. Hot Springs Village sits on quiet, well-maintained roads inside a gated community of roughly 26,000 acres, which makes it one of the friendliest spots in Arkansas for a first time renting an RV. Every RVezy host gives you a full orientation and walkthrough at pickup, showing you how to operate the generator, slide-outs, propane, awning, and waste tanks before you turn the key. You can message the host throughout your trip, and 24/7 roadside assistance is one tap away. Pro tip: start with a smaller Class C motorhome or travel trailer if you are nervous, then graduate to a Class A on your next trip.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/categories/360002452833-RentersWhat happens if I have a breakdown or issue during my trip?
You are never on your own. Every Hot Springs Village RV rental on RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, covering services like tire changes, jump starts, lockouts, fuel delivery, and towing when needed. If you are parked at Gulpha Gorge or near Lake Ouachita and something feels off, you can call roadside dispatch and message your host at the same time, since most local hosts live close to the Village. RVezy customer support is also reachable before, during, and after your trip. That layered safety net makes a Hot Springs Village RV trip stress-free even for first timers.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat are the best RV road trip routes from Hot Springs Village?
An RV road trip from Hot Springs Village can take you in almost any direction, and most popular routes stay within Arkansas. Loop west on Scenic Byway 7 through the Ouachita National Forest to Lake Ouachita (about 35 minutes) and Mount Magazine (around 2 hours). Head northwest to Petit Jean State Park (about 1.5 hours) for Cedar Falls. Travel south to Crater of Diamonds State Park (about 2.5 hours) to dig for real gemstones. Or aim north into the Ozarks toward Buffalo National River (around 4 hours). Cross-state trips into Oklahoma, Missouri, or Texas are typically fine, just confirm cross-border details with your host before you book.
arkansas.com/things-to-do/scenic-drivesWhat kind of fuel economy and gas budget should I plan for?
RV fuel economy is easier to budget for than most people think. Class B campervans average around 18 to 22 miles per gallon, Class C motorhomes get roughly 8 to 12 mpg, and Class A coaches sit closer to 6 to 10 mpg. With Arkansas regular gas typically running below the national average (often $2.80 to $3.20 per gallon around Hot Springs), a weekend trip from the Village to Lake Ouachita and back rarely tops $60 in fuel for a Class C. Pro tip: fill up at the Shell or Murphy USA on Highway 7 in Hot Springs before climbing into the Ouachita National Forest, since stations get scarce once you're deep on Scenic Byway 7.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Hot Springs Village?
Booking early pays off here. Gulpha Gorge Campground inside Hot Springs National Park releases reservations on a 6-month rolling window through Recreation.gov, and prime weekends from April through October usually sell out within days. Arkansas State Parks like Lake Catherine and Lake Ouachita use the ReserveAmerica system and also open 12 months in advance for some sites. Private parks like Catherine's Landing and the Hot Springs Village RV Park on Balearic Road book directly through their websites and tend to have more weekday availability. Pro tip: if you're targeting Memorial Day, Labor Day, or Oaklawn's live racing weekends in January through April, book your campsite first, then your RVezy rental.
recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/247559What are the driving conditions like around Hot Springs Village?
Driving an RV around Hot Springs Village is refreshingly mellow. The community itself sits on wide, paved, low-traffic roads with a 35 mph speed limit, making it perfect for getting comfortable behind the wheel. Once you head out, Highway 7 and Highway 70 are well-maintained two-lane routes with some rolling Ouachita curves, especially the scenic stretch south through the national forest. Watch for occasional fog in the river valleys at sunrise and afternoon thunderstorms in summer. There are no major mountain passes or steep grades to worry about. Pro tip: avoid Central Avenue in downtown Hot Springs during Oaklawn race days, when traffic backs up; use the Highway 270 bypass instead.

Gulpha Gorge offers full hookups with 30 and 50 amp power, water, and sewer at every site (no showers, but clean flush restrooms). Pro tip: check the listing's amenity list for a coffee maker and outdoor chairs, and message the host if you want them included before pickup.

Hosts in Hot Springs Village offer a wide menu of add-ons to make your trip easier. Common options include delivery and setup, generator hours, propane refill, linens and towel packages, kitchen kits, outdoor chairs and tables, bike racks, kayaks or paddleboards, and pet cleaning fees if you bring a dog. You will see every add-on with its exact price right on the listing before booking, and you can request extras through the message thread. rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Hot%20Springs%20Village%2C%20ArkansasHow do payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is simple and fully handled through the RVezy platform, so you never hand cash or a check to the host. You pay the rental total with a credit or debit card at booking, and a refundable security deposit is placed as a hold on your card before pickup, with the exact amount shown on the listing and at checkout. The hold is released after the trip once the host confirms the RV was returned in the same condition. Pro tip: take a quick video walkaround with the host at pickup and dropoff for your campervan rental in Hot Springs Village, it is the easiest way to make sure your deposit comes back fast and in full.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksIs Hot Springs Village a good base for a family RV trip?
It is one of the best in the South for a family RV trip in Hot Springs Village. Inside the gated community you will find multiple lakes for swimming and kayaking, several golf courses, miles of biking and hiking trails, and a family recreation area, all a short drive from your campsite. Add Magic Springs theme park (about 25 minutes), the Mid-America Science Museum (about 30 minutes), and the historic Bathhouse Row experience in downtown Hot Springs, and the kids stay busy for a week. Pro tip: filter RVezy for a bunkhouse layout that sleeps 6 to 8, and request delivery so the rig is set up and ready when you arrive.
