Campgrounds and RV parks near Mountain View, AR

Ozark Folk Center State Park is dedicated to perpetuating the music, crafts, and culture of the Ozarks. It is open mid-April to mid-November, offering visitors an opportunity to watch artisans work in the Craft Village, stroll through the Heritage Herb Garden, and hear live Southern mountain music. The center's 1,000-seat indoor music venue, Ozark Highlands Theater, hosts evening concerts featuring folk, bluegrass, and old-time country music on select weekends throughout the season. Blanchard Springs Caverns, in the Ozark National Forest about 15 miles northwest of town off Highway 14, is a developed cave shaped by a mountain spring that pours into a trout pond called Mirror Lake. The North Sylamore hiking trail follows Sylamore Creek for 25 miles and connects to the Ozark Highlands Trail, and mountain biking is available on 50 miles of the Syllamo Mountain Bike Trail. The White River, minutes north of town, is a widely used rainbow trout fishery with float trips, guided fishing, and public boat ramps.

Spring and fall are the strongest windows. The Ozark Folk Center is open mid-April to mid-November, and informal pickin' sessions run around the courthouse square from spring through late fall. Wildflowers and dogwoods bloom in April, and October brings peak fall color across the surrounding national forest. Summer is hot and humid, with heavy use on the White River and Sylamore Creek. Blanchard Springs Caverns operates seasonally from spring to late fall, Thursday through Monday, closed Tuesday and Wednesday. Guided cavern tours run from early May through the end of October under the current joint Forest Service and Arkansas State Parks agreement. Maximum stays at Blanchard Springs campgrounds are 5 days from Memorial Day through Labor Day and 14 days the rest of the year. Winter is the quiet season. The Blanchard Springs individual campsites remain open all year except when high water closes them, but the Folk Center and cavern tours shut down for the season, and many private RV parks run reduced services. Roads into Mountain View are two-lane and winding through the Ozarks. Large rigs should approach on Highway 5 from the north or south rather than tighter forest routes. In-town parks such as Court Square RV Park and Mountain View RV Park and Guest Motel put RVers within walking distance of the square. Ozark RV Park and Cabins sits next door to Ozark Folk Center State Park, with a shared entrance gate and a short wooded path to the Skillet Restaurant. Expect level gravel sites with picnic tables, bath house, laundry, dump station, fenced dog park, and full hookups at the larger parks. Cell coverage is patchy outside town, black bears live in the surrounding forest, and ticks and chiggers are common from late spring through early fall. Bring bug protection, secure food, and carry a paper map for cavern-area routes, since GPS directions have led many visitors off-course.
