Campgrounds and RV parks near Paris, AR

Mount Magazine State Park is the primary draw. Trails range from short walks to strenuous hikes, and the park is one of the few in Arkansas with hang gliding launch areas. Rock climbing, mountain biking, and horseback riding are also available, and the visitor center runs interpretive programs. Cameron Bluff Overlook and Signal Hill, the state's high point at 2,753 feet, are short drives or hikes from the campground. The Mulberry River, a nationally designated wild and scenic river, runs north of town. Byrd's Adventure Center and Turner Bend Store Cabins and Campground both offer canoe, kayak, and raft rentals, plus access to over 30 miles of marked OHV trails at Byrd's and surrounding Ozark National Forest riding areas.

Spring and fall are the most comfortable seasons for RV camping. April and May bring wildflowers and green ridgelines but also the year's heaviest rain, and the Mulberry River hits prime whitewater flows during this window. Fall delivers cooler nights, lower humidity, and hardwood color that typically peaks from late October into early November across the Ozark ridges. Summer is hot and humid in the valley, with daytime highs commonly in the low 90s. Mount Magazine's elevation runs meaningfully cooler than the valley below, which makes higher-elevation sites popular from June through August. Afternoon thunderstorms are frequent. Winters are cool with occasional freezing nights. Mount Magazine State Park's campground stays open year-round, though restroom facilities operate only from March 15 through November 15. Some private operators along the Mulberry River scale back services during the coldest months, and the on-site restaurant at Byrd's Adventure Center runs a seasonal schedule from March through December.

Cell service is limited across much of the area, and reviewers consistently note weak or absent coverage at Mount Magazine State Park. Download maps, reservation confirmations, and route information before leaving Paris. Food should be stored securely, since Mount Magazine sits in one of Arkansas's more active black bear ranges. Road access matters. The approach to Mount Magazine on AR-309 climbs steadily, and the south approach from Havana has been restricted to one lane due to road repairs, so larger rigs may prefer the north route from Paris. Sites along the Mulberry River can be muddy after heavy rain. Expect a mix of full-hookup, water-and-electric, and primitive sites depending on the property. A dump station is available at Mount Magazine State Park.
