Campgrounds and RV parks near Wooster, AR

Water recreation drives most trip plans. Woolly Hollow State Park offers swimming at a lifeguarded sandy beach in summer, along with canoe, kayak, pedal boat, and fishing boat rentals on no-wake Lake Bennett. Anglers target bass, crappie, bream, and catfish from the shore, pier, or a boat. On land, the park has several hiking trails and mountain biking on the 9.4-mile Enders Fault Trail, which is popular with cyclists and includes creek crossings that vary with recent rains. Shorter loops such as the half-mile Cabin Trail and the 1.5-mile Lakeside Trail suit families with younger kids. History-minded visitors can walk to the historic Woolly Cabin, a preserved 19th-century homestead on site. Beyond the park, day trips reach Greers Ferry Lake to the north, the Arkansas River corridor, and downtown Conway for restaurants and resupply.

Central Arkansas has a humid subtropical climate. Spring is the busiest and wettest window: temperatures are comfortable, wildflowers and dogwoods bloom, and May is the wettest month, averaging about 155 mm of rainfall. Thunderstorms and occasional severe weather are common from March through May, so RV travelers should monitor forecasts and know their campground's storm shelter or safe-room location. Summer brings hot, humid days with highs frequently in the low 90s. This is peak season for lake use: the Woolly Hollow swimming beach and snack bar operate seasonally in the warmer months, and campsite demand runs high on weekends and holidays. Book well ahead. Fall is cooler, drier, and generally the most pleasant stretch for hiking and biking, with autumn color in October and November. Winters are short and cool with rare snow. The park is open year-round, closing only on New Year's Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas, though the swimming beach is closed and visitor-center hours are reduced from December through February.

Woolly Hollow's RV loop has 30 Class AAA sites with full hookups including water, sewer, and 50-amp electric service on paved, level pads that can accommodate RVs up to 60 feet, plus ten primitive Class D tent sites without hookups closer to the lake. All sites include fire rings and picnic tables, and a modern bathhouse provides hot showers and flush toilets, with a dump station located near site 21. Drivers of large rigs should still expect tight interior loops and plan turns carefully. Cell coverage in the foothills is inconsistent, so downloading maps and reservation confirmations before arrival is prudent. Dogs are allowed in Arkansas state parks but are required to be on a leash at all times, and pets are not permitted inside park buildings. Private parks near Wooster vary in amenities, so verify hookup amperage, sewer, Wi-Fi, and length limits when booking.
