Campgrounds and RV parks near Andrews, FL

The Suwannee River drives most of the recreation. The clear waters of Manatee Springs join the tea-stained Suwannee, offering scenic spots for kayaking, swimming, and fishing, with miles of biking and hiking trails through cypress swamps and around sinkhole ponds. Fanning Springs State Park, just across the bridge from Suwannee River Bend RV Park, holds water temperatures near 72 degrees year-round and is a common manatee-sighting spot in cooler months. The Nature Coast State Trail is a paved hiking and biking route built on a former rail corridor, with an access junction in Fanning Springs and a historic trestle crossing over the Suwannee. Cedar Key on the Gulf, roughly a half-hour drive south, adds seafood, shelling, and sunset fishing to a day-trip lineup.

Winter is peak season in this part of Florida. The best window for manatee sightings runs from late fall through early spring, when the animals gather in the constant-temperature spring runs along the Suwannee. Winters are normally mild, with temperatures rarely dropping below 40°F. Snowbirds fill resorts like Southern Leisure RV Resort from December through March, so book well ahead. Spring and fall offer the most comfortable outdoor weather. Rainfall is particularly abundant in summer, often arriving as heavy seasonal downpours or afternoon thunderstorms, while spring tends to be the driest season. Summer brings heat, humidity, and near-daily afternoon storms, along with mosquitoes near the river bottoms. Atlantic hurricane season runs June through November, with the highest activity from August into October along the Nature Coast. Watch NHC advisories when booking summer or early-fall stays, and confirm cancellation policies at private parks. State park sites can close temporarily after tropical systems for cleanup and flood assessment along the Suwannee.

Expect a mix of state-park rustic and modern private-resort setups. At Manatee Springs State Park, most sites have water and electric hookups with select sites offering full hookups, a dump station is available on site, and campers with RVs longer than 40 feet may be limited to specific sites. Cell service inside the state park can be spotty, so download maps before arrival. Southern Leisure RV Resort offers full-hookup sites with 30 and 50 amp service, landscaped pull-through and back-in sites on concrete pads that can accommodate large rigs, and WiFi at the clubhouse. Strawberry Fields For RV'ers has hundreds of full-hookup sites including many pull-throughs on paved pads, plus a heated pool, hot tub, pickleball, bocce, and a golf driving range. Suwannee River Bend RV Park accommodates travelers with 50-amp, 30-amp, water, sewer, and electric hookups, pull-through sites for big rigs, tent sites, laundry rooms, hot showers, observation decks, dog runs, and picnic areas.
