Campgrounds and RV parks near Christmas, FL

The signature draw is Kennedy Space Center, about 35 miles east on SR 50. Launches from Cape Canaveral run frequently, and Titusville along the Indian River is a popular viewing corridor. Manatee viewing, airboat tours on the St. Johns River, and the Orlando theme parks are all within an easy day trip. For outdoor time closer to camp, Tosohatchee WMA protects more than 30,000 acres of the St. Johns River floodplain near Christmas, with ancient live oaks, deeply shaded palm hammocks, and tall cypresses in the river swamps. It is an excellent place to view wildlife year-round and is a site on the Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail. From Interstate 95 in Titusville, follow SR 50 for 10 miles west into Christmas, turn south on Taylor Creek Road, and the entrance is 2.9 miles south on the left.

Central Florida has two functional seasons for RV travel: a cool, dry high season from late fall through early spring, and a hot, wet low season the rest of the year. In Orlando, the summers are long, hot, oppressive, wet, and mostly cloudy and the winters are short, cool, and partly cloudy. Winter is when snowbirds arrive in force and private parks fill with long-term guests, so book early for December through March stays. Summer afternoons bring near-daily thunderstorms, high humidity, and heavy mosquito activity in wooded areas like Tosohatchee. The Tosohatchee area floods when the St. Johns River is high, so avoid recreation there when the river is in flood stage. Hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30, with peak activity from mid-August into October. RV travelers in that window should track the National Hurricane Center forecast and confirm each park's evacuation policy before arrival. Fall shoulder weeks after the peak of hurricane season can bring drier, cooler conditions and easier bookings at private parks.

Terrain around Christmas is flat, sandy, and heavily vegetated with pine flatwoods, palms, and cypress. Most private RV parks in the area offer level sites with 30- and 50-amp service, full hookups, and a swimming pool. Larger resorts like The Great Outdoors RV-Nature and Golf Resort and Seasons in the Sun RV Resort accommodate big rigs and operate year-round, with a mix of nightly, weekly, and monthly guests. Expect long-term residents at many area parks, especially in winter, which means quiet evenings but sometimes tight visitor site inventory. Bring insect repellent year-round, plan for rain gear from June through September, and confirm big-rig site length ahead of time. Cell coverage is generally solid along the SR 50 corridor and thins out inside the WMA and along the St. Johns River backwaters.
