Campgrounds and RV parks near Connerton, FL

Tampa Bay day trips are the main draw. Busch Gardens sits less than 15 miles from the Connerton area, and the Florida Aquarium, ZooTampa at Lowry Park, and Adventure Island water park are all within a 40-minute drive. Families staying at Winter Quarters Pasco RV Resort or Big Oaks RV Resort can also reach Tampa International Airport and downtown Tampa in under 45 minutes. For outdoor days, Hillsborough River State Park offers paddling, swimming, and hiking. The park protects some of Florida's only naturally occurring Class II river rapids, plus more than seven miles of nature trails through hammocks, flatwoods, and wetlands, along with a swimming pool and a reconstructed Second Seminole War fort. Weeki Wachee Springs and the Gulf beaches at Clearwater and Honeymoon Island are within about an hour.

Central Pasco follows the standard west-central Florida pattern. There are two basic seasons in the Tampa Bay area, a hot and wet season from May through October, and a mild and dry season from November through April. Nearly two-thirds of the annual precipitation falls in the months of June through September. Winter is the peak RV season, with mild dry days pulling snowbirds into long-stay resorts like Winter Quarters Pasco RV Resort and Big Oaks RV Resort. Seasonal sites should be booked months ahead. Spring (March through May) is typically dry and warm, with lower humidity and fewer afternoon storms. It is a strong window for state-park camping before summer heat sets in. Summer brings daily thunderstorms, high humidity, and the start of Atlantic hurricane season. June through November is hurricane season in the Atlantic basin, with the most tropical activity occurring between mid-August and mid-October. RV travelers should monitor National Hurricane Center advisories and be prepared to relocate if a storm threatens the coast.

Expect a suburban, snowbird-oriented RV scene rather than a wilderness one. Amenities at Winter Quarters Pasco RV Resort typically include a clubhouse, pool and spa, shuffleboard, horseshoe pits, bocce ball, game room, laundry facility, dog park, and lake fishing. Note that The Woods RV and Park Model Resort is a clothing-optional (nudist) community geared to adults. Cell coverage is strong across Pasco County, and grocery, medical, and fuel stops are within a few minutes of most parks. At Hillsborough River State Park, each campsite has water, electric service, a fire ring, and a picnic table, and each loop provides restrooms with hot showers and laundry, plus a centrally located dump station. The park accommodates RVs up to 50 feet.
