Campgrounds and RV parks near Inglis, FL

Water access defines the area. Visitors launch boats and kayaks on the Withlacoochee River, fish Lake Rousseau for bass, and run out to the Gulf for inshore species such as redfish, sea trout, snook, and tarpon. Kayaks can be rented locally at Bs Marina and Campground. Paddling the Withlacoochee toward Bennett's Creek is a common route for spotting roseate spoonbills, wood storks, egrets, and eagles. On land, the Withlacoochee Bay Trail and Felburn Park trailhead offer paved and natural-surface routes for biking and walking. Both the Felburn Park and Inglis Dam and Island Recreation Area segments are part of the Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail in Citrus County, with great blue herons, little blue herons, bald eagles, and other wading birds commonly seen. Day trips include manatee tours at Crystal River, spring swimming at Rainbow Springs, and seafood in Cedar Key.

The dry, mild months from late October through April are the most comfortable stretch for RV travel. Daytime highs are usually in the 20s Celsius, humidity is manageable, and manatees congregate in the warm springs near Crystal River. This is also snowbird season, so private parks fill early and long-stay sites turn over slowly. Summer is hot, humid, and wet, with afternoon thunderstorms building almost daily from June through September. Atlantic hurricane season runs June through November, so storm risk factors into any late-summer trip. Summer is also scallop season on this coast: Levy, Citrus, and Hernando counties, including Cedar Key, Crystal River, and Homosassa, open July 1 through September 24. Boat ramps, marinas, and waterfront campgrounds are busiest on July and August weekends. Spring shoulder weeks in March and April balance warm water with lower rainfall, though March can be crowded with spring-break traffic. Fall after late September often quiets down as hurricane risk fades.

Most parks around Inglis are flat, tree-shaded, and set up for full-size rigs. Expect 30- and 50-amp electric, water, and sewer at full-hookup sites, with pull-through options at the larger resorts. Cell coverage is generally reliable on major carriers, and several parks advertise Wi-Fi, though speeds vary. Expect wildlife. Mosquitoes and no-see-ums are active from spring through fall, especially near the river at dawn and dusk, so bring repellent and screens. Alligators live in Lake Rousseau and the Withlacoochee, so keep pets leashed and away from the water's edge. Submerged stumps and other obstructions are common in Lake Rousseau, and boaters are advised to stay in marked channels. Groceries, fuel, propane, and boat supplies are available in Inglis and Crystal River. Cedar Key seafood is a short drive north.
