Lacoochee sits in eastern Pasco County along the Withlacoochee River, on the western edge of the Green Swamp. The area is rural and wooded, with camping options spread between private RV parks and the surrounding Withlacoochee State Forest, which covers about 157,000 acres across four counties and offers pine flatwoods, cypress swamps, and river access. Closest to town, Ridge Manor Campground and Town and Country RV Resort serve travelers looking for full-hookup sites along the river corridor. Seven Acres RV Park and Sales and Dade City Resort provide additional RV-focused options a short drive south toward Dade City. Sertoma Youth Ranch Campground, an 80-acre wooded property between Brooksville and Dade City, offers primitive tent sites and water-and-electric RV sites, and hosts music festivals throughout the year. The location works well as a base for exploring central Florida: Tampa is roughly an hour southwest, Orlando about an hour east, and the Gulf coast beaches are within reach for a day trip.

Private RV parks in the area, including Ridge Manor Campground, Town and Country RV Resort, Seven Acres RV Park and Sales, and Dade City Resort, are booked directly with each property by phone or through their websites. Winter is the busiest booking window, and monthly sites often fill months ahead. For nearby Florida State Parks, reservations open up to 11 months in advance for Florida residents and up to 10 months in advance for non-residents, with new inventory released daily at 8 a.m. Eastern Time through the Florida State Parks reservation system or by phone. Popular sites can be gone within minutes. Withlacoochee State Forest campgrounds are managed by the Florida Forest Service and booked separately from the state park system. Sertoma Youth Ranch Campground accepts direct contact for general camping, with separate ticketing for festival weekends.
