Campgrounds near Vilano Beach
Vilano Beach sits on a barrier island just north of the St. Augustine Inlet, giving RV travelers quick access to Atlantic surf, the Tolomato River, and the historic core of St. Augustine across the Vilano Bridge. The area is compact: most campgrounds are within a fifteen-minute drive of both the beach and downtown, which keeps daily driving low for families balancing pool time, beach time, and sightseeing.
Camping options range from oceanfront resorts to a state park inside the dunes. North Beach Camp Resort sits along the Tolomato River and Atlantic shoreline north of Vilano. Anastasia State Park protects a long stretch of undeveloped coast on the island south of the inlet. St. Augustine Beach KOA Holiday, Sun Outdoors St. Augustine, and Ocean Grove RV Resort round out the nearby private options, each with full hookups and family amenities.
Most sites accommodate travel trailers and Class C motorhomes without issue. Larger Class A rigs should confirm length limits before booking, particularly inside the state park, where the cap is 38 feet and only a handful of sites can handle a rig that long.
Things to do near Vilano Beach
The beach itself is the main draw. Vilano Beach allows vehicle access in designated areas, and the wide, hard-packed sand suits walking, shelling, and surf fishing. Anastasia State Park adds four miles of protected beach, a paddling lagoon on Salt Run, and nature trails through a maritime hammock. Anastasia Watersports rents kayaks, paddleboards, sailboats, canoes, and bicycles at the park.
Across the Vilano Bridge, historic St. Augustine offers the Castillo de San Marcos, the old city gates, and a walkable colonial district. Families often pair a beach morning with an afternoon at the St. Augustine Alligator Farm or the Lighthouse and Maritime Museum.
For quieter time, the Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve just north of Vilano has trails, boardwalks, and undeveloped beach access.

Northeast Florida runs on a shoulder-season calendar for RV travel. Late winter through spring is the sweet spot: highs in the seventies, low humidity, and mostly clear skies. This window overlaps with school spring break, so weekends and the two weeks around Easter fill early at every property in the area.
Summer brings hot, humid days, daily afternoon thunderstorms, and the warmest ocean temperatures of the year. Sea turtle nesting runs from May through October along Anastasia and the Guana Reserve, with lighting restrictions on beachfront campsites during nesting season. Atlantic hurricane season officially runs June through November, with peak activity in September, and coastal parks may close ahead of named storms.
Fall cools off after mid-October and brings the driest stretch of the year through November. Winter is mild by northern standards, with occasional cold fronts pushing overnight lows into the forties. Snowbird traffic peaks in January and February, when monthly and long-term sites at private resorts are often committed months in advance.

Our first time renting an RV and we didn’t know what to expect. Delivery of the RV was prompt and Big Jeff set everything up for us. Many of the items we brought were already there for use which was really great. I’m particular about our pillows and towels so we brought those along with our toiletries but everything else was there! Fantastic experience and great service with the delivery, setup and tear down. Would highly recommend.

Meet all our expectations. Will definitely use Big Jeff for future needs.

How to book
Anastasia State Park is reserved through the Florida State Parks system, up to 11 months in advance for Florida residents and up to 10 months in advance for non-residents. Book online at the Florida State Parks reservation site or by calling 1-800-326-3521. Sites have water and electric but no sewer hookups, and a free communal dump station is available. Maximum RV length inside the park is 38 feet, and only a small number of sites accept rigs that long.
Private resorts near Vilano Beach, including North Beach Camp Resort, St. Augustine Beach KOA Holiday, Sun Outdoors St. Augustine, and Ocean Grove RV Resort, book directly through their own websites or by phone. Holiday weekends, spring break, and the Nights of Lights holiday season in downtown St. Augustine sell out earliest, so lock those dates in as soon as travel plans firm up.
What to expect
Expect a mix of shaded, wooded sites at Anastasia State Park and more open, resort-style layouts at the private parks. Sites at the state park are private and shady, but most are narrow, and even the deepest RV sites leave scant room to fully roll out an awning or slide-out. Private resorts generally offer wider pads, full sewer hookups, pools, and laundry on site.
Mosquitoes and no-see-ums are active from late spring through fall, especially near marsh and estuary edges. Bring repellent and a screen room if traveling in summer. Cell service is strong across the area, and grocery, propane, and dump stations are easy to find within a short drive of any campground.
Quiet hours at Anastasia run from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m., and vehicles and dogs are prohibited on the beach inside the park.

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near Vilano Beach, FL
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Vilano Beach, FL?
RV rental in Vilano Beach is often more affordable than nearby Jacksonville and Daytona. On RVezy, travel trailers typically run about $90 to $175 per night, Class C motorhomes average $175 to $300, and larger Class A rigs go higher. Because hosts set their own prices, you can filter by budget and find a cheap RV rental in Vilano Beach that fits your trip. Pro tip: book midweek in late January or early February to score lower rates while still enjoying mild beach days in the 60s and low 70s. Booking your motorhome rental Vilano Beach two to three months ahead of spring break also helps lock in better pricing.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Vilano%20Beach%2C%20FloridaDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Vilano Beach?
Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Vilano Beach. Florida does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or special endorsement for personal-use RVs, even larger Class A motorhomes. To book on RVezy you must be at least 25 years old and complete identity verification through the platform during checkout. Visiting from abroad? Bring an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your home country along with your regular license. Most first-time renters are surprised how simple it is, and your host will walk you through the rig at pickup so you feel confident before driving across the Vilano Bridge.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsIs RV rental insurance and roadside assistance included?
Yes. Every booking on RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit A1A with peace of mind. The protection plan covers damage to the RV up to the plan limits and gives you real financial protection during your Vilano Beach RV trip. You choose the level of coverage that fits your comfort during checkout, so you stay in control. If you get a flat heading into St. Augustine or need a jump at North Beach Park, one call gets help dispatched any time of day or night. It's the kind of safety net that makes saying yes to your first RV adventure feel easy.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat is the cancellation policy if my Vilano Beach plans change?
Booking is low-risk: RVezy sets the cancellation policy (not the host), and every reservation includes a money-back grace period right after booking so you can lock in your dates with confidence. If a hurricane warning, tropical storm, or other major event threatens the First Coast, RVezy's support team works with guests on options. Cancellation terms depend on how far out your trip is, so the easiest move is to review the policy in your booking confirmation or contact RVezy support before your trip. Pro tip: book early for spring break and the Nights of Lights season (mid-November through January), then relax knowing the policy is consistent and clearly defined.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a Vilano Beach RV trip?
Absolutely. Vilano Beach is one of the most dog-friendly stretches on Florida's Historic Coast. Leashed, well-behaved dogs are welcome on most St. Johns County beaches, including Vilano Beach and nearby North Beach Park. To find a pet-friendly RV rental in Vilano Beach, toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and message the host to confirm any pet fee. After a beach run, head to Aunt Kate's on the Tolomato River or another dog-friendly patio along Coastal Highway. Pro tip: bring a freshwater rinse jug since the salty sand at Vilano sticks to paws after every walk.
sjcfl.us/departments/beach-services/Can the RV be delivered right to my campsite or rental house?
Yes, RV delivery in Vilano Beach is one of the easiest ways to skip driving stress entirely. Many RVezy hosts will deliver and set up your rig at North Beach Camp Resort, Stagecoach RV Park, Anastasia State Park, or a private driveway along Coastal Highway. They'll level the RV, connect water, sewer, and electric hookups, and walk you through every system before handing over the keys. Use the Delivery filter when you search to see hosts who offer this option, and message them for a quote based on miles from their location. Pro tip: delivery is a game-changer for a first time renting an RV, especially if you want to keep your trip focused on the beach, fishing pier, and historic downtown.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Vilano%20Beach%2C%20FloridaHow does mileage work, and how far can I drive from Vilano Beach?
Mileage policies are set by each host, and many RVezy listings offer generous daily allowances or RV rental with unlimited mileage, so you can roam without watching the odometer. From Vilano Beach you're well positioned for short hops or longer adventures: Daytona Beach is about 55 miles south, Jacksonville Beach is roughly 40 miles north, Orlando and Walt Disney World sit about 110 miles southwest, Savannah, Georgia is around 175 miles up I-95, and the Florida Keys begin about 400 miles south. Check each listing's mileage details before booking, and message the host if you're planning a longer loop. Pro tip: an RV road trip from Vilano Beach down A1A through Flagler Beach is one of the prettiest coastal drives in Florida.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Vilano%20Beach%2C%20FloridaWhere are the best campgrounds near Vilano Beach?
You have great options within a 15-minute drive. Anastasia State Park, just south of St. Augustine, offers around 139 campsites with water and electric hookups, plus four miles of beach (base rates are roughly $28 per night plus fees). North Beach Camp Resort sits between the Atlantic and the Tolomato River with full hookups, a pool, and a private fishing dock. Stagecoach RV Park is a quieter, shaded option close to historic downtown, and Bryn Mawr Ocean Resort is a popular snowbird favorite to the south. For RV camping Vilano Beach style, Anastasia State Park books up fast, so reserve up to 11 months in advance through the Florida State Parks reservation system.
floridastateparks.org/parks-and-trails/anastasia-state-parkWhen is the best time of year for a Vilano Beach RV trip?
Vilano Beach is a year-round destination, but the sweet spot is mid-October through late April when daytime highs typically sit in the upper 60s to upper 70s, humidity drops, and afternoon thunderstorms are rare. March and April bring spring break energy and warmer ocean swims. Summer (June through September) is hot, humid, and stormy with highs around 90, and it overlaps the Atlantic hurricane season, which peaks in August and September. Winter is mild and uncrowded, perfect for quiet beach walks and easier campground reservations. Pro tip: visit in November or December for the Nights of Lights festival in St. Augustine, when millions of white lights illuminate the historic district just minutes from your campsite.
weather.gov/jax/I've never driven an RV before. Is this really doable?
Totally doable, and Vilano Beach is a friendly place to start. Your RVezy host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup, covering driving, leveling, hookups, awning, generator, slide-outs, and dumping, so you're never left guessing. If you're nervous about driving, choose delivery and let the host handle the road part entirely. Vilano Beach itself has wide, flat streets, and most campgrounds are off A1A or US-1 with easy access. Many first-timers pick a Class C motorhome rental Vilano Beach or a smaller travel trailer since they drive more like a large van. Pro tip: message the host before booking with any questions, they're often locals happy to share their favorite shortcuts around Vilano Bridge traffic.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/categories/360002007353-For-rentersWhat happens if I have a breakdown or issue on the road?
Help is one call away. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so whether you have a flat tire on the Vilano Causeway, a dead battery near Surfside Park, or a generator that won't start at North Beach Camp Resort, support can be dispatched quickly. Your host is also a great first call for quirks specific to their rig. RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after your trip through the Help Center. Pro tip: snap a quick photo of the RV's VIN, license plate, and propane tank levels at pickup, it speeds things up if you ever need to call for help while exploring Florida's Historic Coast.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat are the most popular road trip routes from Vilano Beach?
Vilano Beach is a launchpad to some of the Southeast's best drives. Head south on scenic A1A through St. Augustine Beach, Crescent Beach, and Flagler Beach to Daytona (about 55 miles). Drive north along coastal A1A to Jacksonville Beach and Amelia Island (about 60 miles). Inland, you're around 110 miles from the Orlando theme parks and 145 miles from Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral. For a longer RV road trip from Vilano Beach, point north to historic Savannah, Georgia (175 miles) or Charleston, South Carolina (290 miles). International travel to Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals, but US routes are wide open. Pro tip: A1A through Washington Oaks Gardens State Park is beautiful at sunrise.
visitflorida.com/places-to-go/northeast/What should I budget for fuel on a Vilano Beach RV trip?
Fuel is one of the biggest variables, but it's easy to plan for. Florida gas prices typically run close to the national average, and St. Johns County stations along US-1 and SR-16 in St. Augustine are usually among the cheapest near Vilano Beach. Expect about 7 to 10 miles per gallon for a Class C motorhome, 6 to 9 for a Class A, 12 to 18 if you're towing a travel trailer with your own truck, and 18 to 22 for a Class B campervan rental Vilano Beach. For a typical week of local beach hopping plus one Orlando day trip, budget roughly $150 to $350 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up at the Costco or Sam's Club on SR-16 before heading back to drop off the rig.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Vilano Beach?
For Anastasia State Park, book exactly 11 months out the moment the reservation window opens through the Florida State Parks reservation system, especially for weekends, holidays, and Nights of Lights season. North Beach Camp Resort and Stagecoach RV Park accept reservations directly and usually have more flexibility, but spring break and summer weekends still fill 2 to 3 months ahead. Private parks like Bryn Mawr Ocean Resort fill earliest for snowbird season (January through March). Pro tip: if Anastasia is full, set a reminder to check back the week before your trip, cancellations open up surprisingly often. Booking your RV first on RVezy, then your site, keeps both pieces lined up.
floridastateparks.org/parks-and-trails/anastasia-state-parkWhat are local driving conditions like around Vilano Beach?
Driving around Vilano Beach is refreshingly easy compared to many Florida destinations. A1A and Coastal Highway are flat, well-maintained two-lane roads with light traffic outside of peak summer weekends. The Francis and Mary Usina Bridge (Vilano Bridge) over the Intracoastal is wide and modern, no problem for any RV. Watch for the reduced-speed zones through Vilano Town Center and stay alert for cyclists. In summer, afternoon thunderstorms can bring sudden heavy rain, so plan driving for mornings. Important note: while St. Johns County allows seasonal beach driving on designated stretches with a permit, RVs are not suited for soft sand, stick to paved lots. Pro tip: avoid the historic Bridge of Lions in downtown St. Augustine with a tall RV, take the Vilano Bridge instead.
fdot.gov/agencyresources/mapsWhat amenities can I expect at campgrounds near Vilano Beach?
Local campgrounds are well-equipped for an easy stay. Anastasia State Park offers water and electric at every site, hot showers, a dump station, and a camp store. North Beach Camp Resort has full hookups (water, sewer, 30/50-amp electric), a heated pool, laundry, Wi-Fi, and a private dock on the Tolomato River. Stagecoach RV Park provides full hookups and shaded sites. Need to dump or fill water mid-trip? The dump station at Anastasia State Park is available, and many private parks allow non-guest dumping for a small fee. Pro tip: top off fresh water at your campground before heading off-grid to Faver-Dykes State Park about 20 minutes south.
floridastateparks.org/parks-and-trails/anastasia-state-parkWhat features and amenities will the RV itself have?
RVezy rentals near Vilano Beach come ready for beach life. Most rigs include a full kitchen (fridge, freezer, stove, microwave), a bathroom with shower and toilet, climate control with air conditioning (a must for Florida humidity), sleeping for 2 to 10 depending on size, a dinette, and seatbelted seating for travel. Many also include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor shower (perfect for rinsing sandy feet from Vilano Beach), awning, and generator or solar. Wi-Fi varies, so check the listing or plan to use your phone hotspot. Each listing shows exactly what's included plus optional add-ons like beach chairs, bikes, paddleboards, linens, and camp kitchens. Pro tip: the outdoor shower is the unsung hero after a day at Porpoise Point.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Vilano%20Beach%2C%20FloridaWhat add-ons and pickup options are available?
Hosts offer many ways to customize your Vilano Beach trip. Popular add-ons include linen and towel packages, beach chairs and umbrellas, kayaks and paddleboards, bikes, portable grills, generators, and even pre-stocked camp kitchens. Delivery and setup is one of the most popular options, with per-mile fees set by the host. Pickup and dropoff times, mileage allowances, and generator hours are all set per listing, so review the details before booking. Family RV trip Vilano Beach travelers love the family bundles some hosts offer with kid-friendly extras. Pro tip: ask about a slightly later dropoff so you can squeeze in one last sunrise at the Vilano Beach Pier before handing back the keys.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Vilano%20Beach%2C%20FloridaHow do payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is simple and secure through the RVezy platform, no cash or side deals with the host. You'll pay your trip total by credit or debit card at booking, and a refundable security deposit is pre-authorized on your card before pickup (the amount varies by listing). As long as the RV comes back in the same shape it left, the hold is released after the trip ends. To avoid surprises, do a thorough walkaround with your host at pickup, take time-stamped photos and videos of every angle inside and out, and confirm the fuel and propane levels. Pro tip: keep your final fuel receipt handy, it makes for a smooth handoff at return.
