Campgrounds and RV parks near Zephyrhills South, FL

Downtown Zephyrhills is a short drive from the Chancey Road resort cluster and hosts small-town restaurants, weekend markets, and Zephyr Park, which includes a splash pad and lake frontage. Skydive City draws visitors interested in tandem jumps and watching drop-zone activity. Day-trip options reach in every direction. Tampa's ZooTampa at Lowry Park, aquariums, and Gulf beaches are under an hour away. Orlando's theme parks sit about 77 miles northeast. For quieter days, Hillsborough River State Park offers paddling and hiking under old-growth oak canopy, and freshwater fishing is available on nearby lakes. On-site amenities at the larger resorts typically include pools, shuffleboard courts, clubhouses, and organized social activities. Families traveling with children should confirm age policies before booking, since several nearby parks are 55+ only.

Central Florida's high season for RV travel runs from January through mid-April and again in late November and December, when temperatures are mild and humidity drops. This window corresponds to peak snowbird occupancy, and sites at the larger resorts often book months in advance. Reserving early is essential during this stretch. Spring shoulder weeks in late April and May bring warm, sunny weather with fewer crowds, though afternoon storms begin building by month's end. Summer is hot and humid, with daily thunderstorms and the region's wet season peaking from June through August. Rain totals climb sharply during these months, with August often the wettest. Hurricane season officially runs June through November, with the highest risk in August, September, and October. Fall temperatures cool noticeably after mid-October, and availability opens up before the winter rush resumes. Travelers visiting in fall should monitor National Hurricane Center advisories throughout their stay.

Expect flat, paved or hard-packed pull-through and back-in sites with full hookups: water, sewer, and 30 or 50 amp electric. Sites at Sweetwater and the neighboring Chancey Road resorts are typically sized for larger Class A and fifth-wheel rigs with slide-outs. Cell coverage is strong across all major carriers, and most resorts advertise Wi-Fi at the clubhouse. The local crowd skews older and quieter, with structured activities like bingo, potlucks, shuffleboard, and pool events during the winter season. Landing Resort and Southern Charm follow similar patterns. Pets are generally welcome, though breed and leash rules vary. Summer visitors should plan for daily afternoon thunderstorms, high humidity, and mosquitoes near wooded and low-lying areas. Sun-shade awnings, bug spray, and a surge protector rated for Florida's frequent lightning are worth packing.
