Campgrounds near Belvedere Park
Belvedere Park is an unincorporated community in DeKalb County, just east of downtown Atlanta, and it sits within easy reach of the metro area's main RV camping cluster around Stone Mountain. Most travelers use the community as a base for exploring Atlanta while staying at nearby parks that offer full or partial hookups.
The closest large camping option is Stone Mountain Park Family Campground, set on the 3,200-acre Stone Mountain Park property with more than 400 RV, pop-up, and tent sites, plus yurts and safari tents. Stone Mountain Campground and Stone Mountain Heights RV-Mobile Home Park sit in the same corridor, while Jones RV Park and Atlanta South RV Resort give travelers additional options south of the city.
Site mixes vary. Stone Mountain offers a spread of full hookups, water and electric sites, and primitive tent pads, so RV renters should confirm hookup type, rig length, and any daily park-entry requirements when booking.
Things to do near Belvedere Park
Stone Mountain Park anchors most trip itineraries. The park's granite dome can be reached by the walk-up trail or the Summit Skyride cable car, and the grounds include hiking and biking trails, a scenic railroad, mini-golf, SkyHike ropes course, and dinosaur-themed play areas for children.
Seasonal attractions add value in warmer months. A nightly drone and light show projects onto the mountain face during peak season, and the park hosts fall and winter festivals through October, November, and December.
Beyond Stone Mountain, RV renters can drive into central Atlanta for the Georgia Aquarium, the World of Coca-Cola, Piedmont Park, and the Atlanta BeltLine, or head to the Arabia Mountain National Heritage Area for quieter hiking and cycling trails close to Belvedere Park.

Attractions at Stone Mountain operate daily through the core summer months, and the drone and light show runs through peak season. How to book a campsite
Stone Mountain Park Family Campground takes reservations online through Campspot and by phone, with a 2 p.m. check-in and noon check-out for RV, pop-up, and tent sites. Lakefront sites are the most requested, so booking several months out is recommended for spring and summer weekends. A non-refundable parking fee is required for every vehicle entering the park, in addition to the campsite charge.
Private parks near Belvedere Park, including Stone Mountain Heights RV-Mobile Home Park, Jones RV Park, and Atlanta South RV Resort, usually book directly on their own websites or by phone. Monthly and extended-stay rates may be available at some properties.
When reserving, confirm rig length, slide-out clearance, hookup type, and pet policy.
What to expect on arrival
Stone Mountain Park requires a daily parking pass for each vehicle in addition to the campsite reservation, and the campground office sits just inside the main gate. GPS may route large rigs toward the West Gate, which has a low underpass, so drivers should use the East Gate off Exit 8 on US-78 and follow posted campground signs.
Interior campground roads at Stone Mountain are paved but can be rough in spots, and some sites are more level than others. Full-hookup, water-and-electric, and primitive tent areas are grouped in separate loops, and lakefront sites fill first.
Cell coverage is generally good given the proximity to Atlanta, though on-site Wi-Fi can be inconsistent. Campground stores stock basic supplies, but large grocery runs are easier in Belvedere Park, Decatur, or along the nearby interstate corridors. Traffic into central Atlanta is heaviest on weekday afternoons.

How much does an RV rental in Belvedere Park cost, and how can I save?
RV rental in Belvedere Park is one of the most affordable ways to explore metro Atlanta and north Georgia. On RVezy, travel trailers near Belvedere Park typically start around $95 to $150 per night, Class C motorhomes run roughly $175 to $275 per night, and larger Class A rigs land between $225 to $375 per night. To score a cheap RV rental in Belvedere Park, book midweek (Sunday through Thursday), travel in the shoulder seasons of March or October, and sort listings by lowest nightly rate. Many Belvedere Park hosts also offer weekly discounts of 10 to 20 percent, so extending a 5-night trip to 7 nights often costs about the same.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Belvedere%20Park%2C%20GeorgiaWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Belvedere Park, Georgia?
Great news for first-timers: a regular Class C driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Belvedere Park. The Georgia Department of Driver Services classifies motorhomes used for personal travel as recreational vehicles, so no Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or special endorsement is required, regardless of size. On RVezy, you generally need to be 25 or older with a valid driver's license, and your ID is verified through the platform during booking. Visiting from outside the US? Bring your home-country license along with an International Driving Permit (IDP), and you are ready to roll out of metro Atlanta.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat protection is included with my Belvedere Park RV rental?
You are covered from the moment you book. Every RV rental in Belvedere Park through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit I-285 or head up to the Blue Ridge with confidence. At checkout you choose the protection level that fits your trip, whether it is a weekend at Stone Mountain or a two-week Smoky Mountain loop. Higher tiers reduce your financial responsibility for covered physical damage to the RV. Take a quick walkaround video at pickup so any pre-existing dings are documented before you leave the host's driveway.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if my plans change, can I cancel my Belvedere Park RV booking?
Yes, booking an RV in Belvedere Park is low-risk. RVezy sets the cancellation policy (not individual hosts), with refund amounts based on how far out you are from your trip start date. If a host cancels, guests are refunded or offered travel credits. If something unexpected comes up, contact RVezy support to review your options. Book early to secure the best rigs around DeKalb County for popular fall and holiday weekends, knowing the platform's policy gives you a clear framework if plans shift.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Belvedere Park?
Yes, many Belvedere Park hosts offer pet-friendly RV rentals, and you can find them in seconds by toggling the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy. Once you have picked your rig, DeKalb County has great spots to explore together: Mason Mill Park has a fenced dog park just minutes north, and Stone Mountain Park (about 15 minutes east) allows leashed dogs on most trails outside the walk-up trail. Arabia Mountain National Heritage Area, about 20 minutes south, is another leash-friendly favorite. Message the host before booking to confirm pet fees (commonly $25 to $75 per trip) and ask about their cleanup expectations so checkout goes smoothly.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Belvedere%20Park%2C%20GeorgiaCan the RV be delivered to my campsite in Belvedere Park?
Yes, RV delivery in Belvedere Park is one of the easiest ways to start your trip, especially if it is your first time renting an RV. Many local hosts will drive the rig to your driveway or a nearby campground like Stone Mountain Park Campground, then level it, hook up power and water, and walk you through every system before they leave. That means no towing stress, no backing into a tight site, and no figuring out the awning on your own. Filter by Delivery on RVezy to see which Belvedere Park listings offer it. Delivery fees are usually based on round-trip mileage, so booking a host close to 30032 helps keep costs low.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008794-Delivery-optionsHow does mileage work, and how far can I drive from Belvedere Park?

Most Belvedere Park RV rentals include 100 to 150 free miles per night, and many hosts offer unlimited mileage packages or generous add-on bundles if you're planning a longer Georgia RV trip. From Belvedere Park you're perfectly positioned: Stone Mountain is 15 minutes away, Helen and the north Georgia mountains sit about 90 miles north (roughly 2 hours), Savannah is 250 miles east (4 hours), Chattanooga is 120 miles northwest (2 hours), and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park entrance at Cherokee, NC is about 170 miles (3.5 hours). Pro tip: ask your host about an unlimited-mileage add-on if you're planning a one-week loop through Asheville and the Smokies.
fhwa.dot.gov/byways/bywaysWhere are the best campgrounds near Belvedere Park to park my RV?
You're surrounded by great options. The closest favorite is Stone Mountain Park Campground (about 15 minutes northeast), with 400+ sites, full hookups, lake access, and the iconic laser show next door. Atlanta South RV Resort in McDonough (30 minutes south on I-75) offers concrete pads, a pool, and easy interstate access. Sweetwater Creek State Park in Lithia Springs (40 minutes west) has 10 RV sites with hookups beside a beautiful creek and Civil War ruins. For a quieter scene, McKinney Campground on Lake Allatoona (50 minutes north) is a Corps of Engineers gem with waterfront sites. Pro tip: Stone Mountain books out months ahead for fall weekends and the July 4 fireworks, so reserve as soon as your dates are firm.
gastateparks.org/info/campingWhen is the best time of year for an RV trip from Belvedere Park?
Belvedere Park's mild climate makes RV camping a near year-round option. The sweet spots are mid-March through May (highs in the upper 60s to low 80s, blooming dogwoods and azaleas) and late September through early November (highs in the 60s to low 80s, crisp nights, and stunning fall color up in the Blue Ridge). Summers run hot and humid with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s and frequent afternoon thunderstorms, so look for an RV with strong air conditioning. Winters are mild (40s to 50s) and great for shoulder-season deals. October weekends at north Georgia state parks like Vogel and Amicalola Falls are excellent for leaf peeping, so book your campsite 4 to 6 months ahead.
weather.gov/ffc/I've never rented an RV before, will I be okay driving one around Atlanta?
You've got this, and you won't be alone. Every Belvedere Park host on RVezy provides a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through driving the rig, dumping tanks, running the generator, and setting up at camp. If big-city driving makes you nervous, choose a smaller Class B campervan or Class C motorhome (most are 20 to 28 feet) which handle a lot like a large van. You can also skip Atlanta driving entirely by booking RV delivery in Belvedere Park straight to your campground. Pro tip: avoid I-285 and I-75/I-85 through downtown between 7 to 9 AM and 4 to 7 PM, and you'll find Georgia's roads remarkably easy to navigate.
dot.ga.gov/DriveSmartWhat happens if something goes wrong with the RV during my trip?
Help is one call away, anytime. Every Belvedere Park RV rental on RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, covering flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, fuel delivery, and towing to the nearest service location. If the AC quits on a hot July afternoon or a slide-out gets stuck, you can also message your host directly through the RVezy app since most owners know their rig inside and out and can troubleshoot quickly. RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after your trip. Save the roadside number in your phone and snap a photo of the RV's VIN before you leave the driveway so help can find you fast.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Belvedere Park RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Yes, interstate travel is welcome and Belvedere Park is one of the best launchpads in the Southeast. Popular RV road trips from Belvedere Park include Asheville and the Blue Ridge Parkway (about 3.5 hours), Charleston, SC (about 5 hours), the Florida Gulf Coast (about 6 hours to Destin), and Nashville (about 4 hours). Cross-border travel into Canada requires advance approval from the host since insurance and protection coverage need to be confirmed, so message them before booking. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because the protection package does not extend there. If you are heading to the Smokies, take US-441 through Cherokee for a scenic, RV-friendly route into the park's Oconaluftee entrance.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat kind of fuel mileage should I expect, and what is gas like around Belvedere Park?
Easy to budget for. Expect roughly 8 to 10 MPG for Class A motorhomes, 10 to 14 MPG for Class C, 16 to 20 MPG for Class B campervans, and your tow vehicle's normal MPG minus 4 to 6 when pulling a travel trailer. Gas prices in metro Atlanta tend to run slightly below the national average, with regular often available at QuikTrip and RaceTrac stations near Belvedere Park. Check current pump prices through the U.S. EIA before you go. For a 500-mile weekend loop in a Class C, plan a fuel budget based on roughly 50 to 60 gallons. Fill up in Georgia before crossing into South Carolina or North Carolina, and use the GasBuddy app to find the cheapest stations along I-20 or I-85.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far ahead should I book a campground near Belvedere Park?
Earlier is better, especially for Georgia state parks. Reserve sites at Stone Mountain, Sweetwater Creek, Vogel, and Amicalola Falls through the Georgia State Parks reservation system up to 13 months in advance, and fall weekends fill quickly. National forest and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers campgrounds like McKinney and Victoria on Lake Allatoona book through Recreation.gov on a 6-month rolling window. Private parks like Atlanta South RV Resort typically take reservations year-round and are easier to grab last-minute. For a spontaneous Belvedere Park RV trip, search Tuesday through Thursday nights at state parks since cancellations open up regularly.
recreation.gov/What are the driving conditions like around Belvedere Park?
Mostly easy, with a few traffic tips. Belvedere Park sits just inside I-285 (the Perimeter) in DeKalb County, with quick access to I-20, I-75, and I-85, all flat, wide, and RV-friendly outside of rush hour. The terrain is gently rolling, and weather is calm most of the year, though summer afternoons can bring sudden thunderstorms (pull over if visibility drops). Avoid downtown's Connector (I-75/85) during peak commute times and skip the Tom Moreland Interchange at I-285 and I-85 in a 30-foot-plus rig if you can. Head east on US-78 toward Stone Mountain or south on I-20 toward Madison for the smoothest, most scenic exit from metro Atlanta.
511ga.org/What amenities do campgrounds near Belvedere Park offer, and where can I dump and fill water?
You'll find full-service options close by. Stone Mountain Park Campground and Atlanta South RV Resort both offer full hookups (water, electric 30/50 amp, sewer), Wi-Fi, laundry, and hot showers. Georgia state parks like Sweetwater Creek and Vogel offer water and electric at every RV site with centralized dump stations. For a quick dump or water fill without an overnight stay, Atlanta South RV Resort and most KOAs in the area allow drop-in dumps for $10 to $20. Pro tip: many Belvedere Park RVezy hosts will dump and refill the tanks for you as part of a prep fee, so ask during booking if you'd rather skip that step entirely and enjoy more time RV camping near Belvedere Park.
gastateparks.org/info/campingWhat's inside a typical motorhome rental in Belvedere Park?
More than you'd expect, basically a hotel room on wheels. A typical motorhome rental in Belvedere Park comes with a full kitchen (3-burner stove, microwave, fridge/freezer, sink), a bathroom with toilet and shower, a queen or king bed plus convertible dinette/sofa sleepers (most sleep 4 to 8), roof AC, furnace, and seatbelted seats for travel. Many Belvedere Park rigs also include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor speakers, a power awning, and a generator for off-grid stays. Wi-Fi varies, so confirm with your host or grab a hotspot. Pro tip: when comparing campervan rentals in Belvedere Park, check the listing's amenities tab carefully. Some include extras like camp chairs, a Weber grill, and bedding worth $100+ if you'd otherwise have to buy or pack them.
energy.gov/energysaver/rv-and-trailer-appliancesWhat add-ons and pickup options are available for a family RV trip from Belvedere Park?
Plenty of ways to customize your family RV trip from Belvedere Park. Common add-ons include linen and kitchen kits ($30 to $75), generator hours ($3 to $5 per hour over the included allowance), bike racks, camp chairs and tables, portable grills, and even kayaks or paddleboards from some hosts. Pickup is typically at the host's home in or near 30032, with a 30 to 60 minute orientation included. Prefer it even easier? Choose RV delivery in Belvedere Park and the rig is staged at your campground when you arrive. Most hosts offer flexible pickup windows in the afternoon with return by late morning. After a long drive home from the mountains, the linen kit is well worth it.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Belvedere%20Park%2C%20GeorgiaHow does payment and the security deposit work when I rent an RV in Belvedere Park?
Simple and secure. When you book an RV rental in Belvedere Park on RVezy, payment is processed through the platform (no cash to the host), with a portion charged at booking and the balance due closer to your trip. A refundable security deposit is held separately on your card before pickup, typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the rig, and released after return if everything checks out. The deposit is separate from the booking payment and covers issues like excess cleaning or undisclosed damage beyond the protection plan. Do a thorough walkaround video with your host at both pickup and dropoff, note the fuel and propane levels, and you will almost always get your full deposit back quickly.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhat's a great first weekend RV trip from Belvedere Park?
You're spoiled for choice. A perfect first family RV trip from Belvedere Park is the 90-minute drive north to Helen, GA, an alpine-themed Bavarian village with tubing on the Chattahoochee, Anna Ruby Falls, and Unicoi State Park's lakeside campground. Another easy win is heading 20 minutes east to Stone Mountain Park Campground for the laser show, paddleboats, and the summit hike, all without leaving DeKalb County. If you want a beach fix, Tybee Island near Savannah is a 4-hour cruise down I-16. Pro tip: for your first RV road trip from Belvedere Park, keep the first night within an hour's drive so you can dial in the rig before tackling longer mileage on day two.
