Campgrounds and RV parks near Dearing, GA

Water recreation dominates the trip list. Clarks Hill Lake supports swimming, boating, and fishing, with largemouth bass, striped bass, and crappie among the common catches. Boat ramps at Mistletoe State Park provide easy access to the lake, and during summer guests can cool off at the sandy beach or on the park's miles of shaded nature trails. On the South Carolina shore, Hamilton Branch offers shoreline fishing, paddling, and two boat ramps with access to deeper water. Anglers target bass, bream, striper, catfish, and crappie. Off the water, Augusta is about 25 miles east for museums, dining, and the Riverwalk, and disc-golf players can visit the International Disc Golf Center at Wildwood Park nearby.

The region has a humid subtropical climate with hot, humid summers and cool winters. Rainfall is spread fairly evenly through the year, though summer often brings heavy downpours and afternoon thunderstorms, and fall tends to be the driest season. Spring and fall are the most comfortable windows for RV camping. Daytime highs are moderate, humidity is lower, and lake temperatures remain workable into October. These are also popular booking windows at Mistletoe State Park, so plan several weeks ahead for weekends. Summer brings full lake-season access, including the swimming beach at Mistletoe, but expect afternoon storms and high heat indexes. Winter is the quietest season; the Mistletoe campground stays open year-round, but the beach and some day-use amenities operate seasonally. Hurricane remnants occasionally track inland from the Atlantic or Gulf between August and October, so watch the National Hurricane Center forecast when booking those months.

At Mistletoe State Park, many RV sites are tree-lined and shaded, and some have waterfront views. Back-in and pull-through sites range from 30 to 50 feet in length. All sites have electric and water, and select campsites offer full hookups. Three comfort stations with flush toilets and hot showers serve the campground, and a dump station sits near the campground entrance along with a playground, laundry area, and covered picnic area. Hamilton Branch has lakefront sites with mixed size limits: some accommodate RVs up to 40 feet, others up to 35 feet. Eight comfort stations with restrooms and hot showers are located throughout the park, and two dump stations are available. Private parks in the Dearing-Augusta corridor generally provide 30/50-amp full hookups; verify site length and hookup type when booking.
