Doraville sits inside metro Atlanta's I-285 perimeter in DeKalb County, giving RV travelers quick access to both the city and the suburbs east and north. The closest full-service option is Jones RV Park, just off I-85 at exit 101 in Norcross, minutes north of Doraville. It offers full hookup sites with 30- and 50-amp service, water, sewer, cable, pull-through pads for big rigs, a dump station, propane, laundry, showers, and Wi-Fi.
For a park setting, Stone Mountain lies about fifteen miles east. Stone Mountain Park is a state-owned 3,200 acre park located 15 miles east of Atlanta, offering year-round recreation, historical sites, and events. Its on-site campground is marketed under the names Stone Mountain Park Family Campground and Stone Mountain Campground, and features over 400 RV, pop-up, and tent sites plus yurt, safari tent, and RV rentals, including 250 full or partial hookup RV sites.
West of the metro area, Atlanta-Marietta RV Resort sits closer to Cobb County attractions. Stone Mountain Heights RV-Mobile Home Park sits along US-78 near the park's western approach and skews toward long-term residents.
Things to do near Doraville

Metro Atlanta has a humid subtropical climate. Summers are hot and humid, winters are cool, and precipitation is fairly even year-round with slightly wetter conditions in winter and drier weather in fall. That makes spring and fall the most comfortable windows for RV camping, with mild days and cool nights.
Summer brings heavy heat and humidity along with afternoon thunderstorms, so shaded sites and reliable 50-amp service for air conditioning matter. Winter is mild by national standards but not frost-free: freezing temperatures happen on about 36 nights a year on average from November to March, and roughly once a year the temperature stays below freezing all day. RV travelers should watch overnight lows and manage fresh-water hoses accordingly.
Stone Mountain Park is open year-round, and seasonal attractions inside the park drive demand, so holiday weekends fill fastest. Weekday stays in shoulder seasons offer the widest site selection.

How to book campgrounds near Doraville
Stone Mountain Park Campground takes reservations through its online booking system, covering RV, tent, yurt, safari tent, and rental trailer sites. Trailers, fifth wheels, pop-ups, and motorhomes can stay for up to 14 nights, with a 7-night waiting period before re-booking; tent stays cap at 7 nights. Lakefront sites are the most in-demand and are often booked well in advance, so early reservations are recommended.
Jones RV Park handles bookings directly by phone or through its website; office hours are limited on weekends, so book ahead. Atlanta-Marietta RV Resort accepts direct bookings through the operator, and Stone Mountain Heights RV-Mobile Home Park is oriented toward monthly stays, so call ahead for nightly availability.
What to expect on arrival
At Stone Mountain Park, plan for park-entry logistics. A daily parking fee is required for all vehicles entering the park and is not included in the campsite rate on the day of arrival; at check-in, a parking permit for the rest of the stay is issued to campground guests. GPS may route rigs to a low-clearance underpass, so confirm the recommended gate with the campground before arriving. Roads inside the campground are paved but uneven in places, and some sites need extra leveling.
Jones RV Park is a practical, no-frills base for exploring Atlanta with spacious pull-through sites and gravel pads; expect a mix of overnighters and long-term residents. Atlanta-Marietta RV Resort focuses on paved sites with standard resort amenities and sits closer to Truist Park and west-side attractions.

The Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) confirms that a standard Class C non-commercial license covers virtually every motorhome, campervan, travel trailer, and fifth wheel you'll find on RVezy, with no Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required for recreational use. You just need to be at least 25 years old, which is RVezy's minimum age to rent. Visiting from abroad? ID verification happens right inside the RVezy platform during checkout, so you can knock it out in minutes.

help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat is the cancellation policy if my Doraville trip plans change?
Plans change, and RVezy is built to be flexible. RVezy sets the cancellation policy, not the individual host, and it includes a grace period right after booking so you can lock in your Doraville RV trip with confidence. Refund eligibility after the grace period depends on how far in advance you cancel relative to your trip start date. You can review the current cancellation terms on the RVezy Help Center before you book. Securing your RV early during peak Stone Mountain Laser Show season (May through Labor Day) is smart, and the grace period gives you breathing room if anything shifts.

gastateparks.org/StoneMountainCan the RV be delivered to my campground or home in Doraville?
Yes, and it is one of the most convenient options for metro Atlanta travel. Many RVezy hosts offer RV delivery Doraville guests can book directly through the listing, which means the rig shows up at Stone Mountain Campground, your Airbnb driveway, or a private address near the Perimeter. The host levels the RV, hooks up water and power, and walks you through every system before they leave. That makes delivery a perfect option if it is your first time renting an RV or you would rather skip driving the Atlanta connector. Use the Delivery filter on RVezy when searching, then message the host with your exact destination for a quote.

nps.gov/chat/index.htmWhere are the best campgrounds near Doraville, GA?
You're spoiled for choice within an hour of Doraville. Top picks include Stone Mountain Campground inside Stone Mountain Park (about 20 minutes away, with full hookups and lakefront sites), Atlanta West Campground in Austell (an easy drive west of the city), Sweetwater Creek State Park (rustic and beautiful, with hiking right on site), McKinney Campground on Lake Allatoona (operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers, about 45 minutes north), and Margaritaville RV Resort at Lanier Islands (a resort-style splurge about 50 minutes north). For RV camping Doraville visitors love, Stone Mountain is the iconic choice thanks to its laser show and trails. Book Georgia State Park sites through the official reservation site well in advance for summer weekends.
gastateparks.org/StoneMountainWhat's the best time of year for a Doraville RV trip?
Spring and fall are absolutely magical for an RV rental in Doraville GA. From mid-March through May, daytime highs sit in the comfortable 65 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit range, dogwoods bloom across metro Atlanta, and Stone Mountain's foliage starts greening up. Fall (late September through early November) brings 60 to 75 degree days, lower humidity, and stunning leaf color in the nearby North Georgia mountains. Summer (June to August) is hot and humid (often 88 to 95 degrees with thunderstorms), but campgrounds with pools and shaded sites can still be a blast. Winter is mild with highs in the 50s, making it surprisingly great for off-season deals. Pro tip: book early for October weekends, they fill faster than any other time.
weather.gov/ffc/I've never rented an RV before, how does pickup work in Doraville?
First time renting an RV? You're going to love how friendly the process is. Every RVezy host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup or delivery, covering how to operate the generator, slide-outs, awning, freshwater and waste tanks, propane, AC, and the kitchen. Expect this orientation to take 30 to 60 minutes, and ask every question that pops into your head. Hosts in the Doraville area are used to teaching newbies and will share local tips like which gas stations off I-285 are RV-friendly and how to navigate Spaghetti Junction (I-85/I-285 interchange). You can also message the host before booking with any questions, and RVezy support is reachable 24/7 once your trip starts.
exploregeorgia.org/things-to-do/outdoors-nature/camping-rvingWhat happens if something goes wrong with the RV during my trip?
You are never stranded on an RVezy trip. Every rental in Doraville includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, covering flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, and towing if needed. If you have a mechanical issue near Stone Mountain, on I-285, or deep into the Chattahoochee National Forest, one phone call gets help dispatched. Your host is also just a message away and can troubleshoot common questions like resetting the generator or refilling propane. RVezy customer support is available before, during, and after every trip, so whether you are parked at McKinney Campground or rolling toward Helen, you have a safety net the whole way.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Doraville RV rental into other states, or across the border?
Yes, an RV road trip from Doraville is one of the best ways to see the Southeast. Most hosts allow interstate travel across the US, so you can roll up I-75 to Tennessee and the Great Smoky Mountains, head east to the Carolinas, or south to Florida's Gulf Coast. Travel into Canada may be permitted on a case-by-case basis, so message the host directly to confirm. Travel into Mexico is not allowed on RVezy rentals because insurance and protection coverage don't extend there. Popular multi-state routes from Doraville include Atlanta to Asheville (about 200 miles), Atlanta to the Florida Panhandle (about 320 miles), and a Tennessee mountains loop through Chattanooga and Gatlinburg.
nps.gov/grsm/index.htmWhat should I budget for fuel on a Doraville RV trip?
Fuel is the biggest variable cost, but it is easy to plan for. Class C motorhomes near Doraville average 8 to 12 miles per gallon, Class B campervans get 15 to 20 MPG, and travel trailer fuel use depends on your tow vehicle. Georgia gas prices typically run a bit below the national average. For a 300-mile weekend loop to Helen and back in a Class C, plan on roughly $100 to $150 in fuel based on current prices. Check the EIA weekly fuel report before you leave, and fill up at QuikTrip or RaceTrac stations along I-85 before heading into the North Georgia mountains, where prices often climb 20 to 40 cents higher.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Doraville?
Earlier is better, especially for any campground inside a Georgia State Park. Stone Mountain Campground, Sweetwater Creek, and Red Top Mountain release reservations up to 13 months in advance through the official Georgia State Parks reservation system, and prime summer weekends often sell out months ahead. For US Army Corps of Engineers parks on Lake Allatoona and Lake Lanier (like McKinney and Bald Ridge Creek), book through Recreation.gov up to 6 months out. Private resorts like Margaritaville RV Resort at Lanier Islands take reservations year-round. Pro tip: if you're planning an October leaf-season trip or a Stone Mountain Laser Show weekend in June or July, lock your campsite in before you finalize your RV rental.
recreation.gov/What are the driving conditions like around Doraville?
Doraville sits right at the I-285 Perimeter just north of Spaghetti Junction (the I-85/I-285 interchange), so a little planning makes city driving easy. Atlanta traffic peaks weekdays from roughly 7 to 9 AM and 4 to 7 PM, so plan to pick up your RV midday or on weekends if possible. Avoid Buford Highway's low railroad bridges and stick to numbered interstates and US highways, which all clear standard RV heights of 13 feet 6 inches. Once you're 20 minutes outside the Perimeter, traffic mellows fast and you're cruising past pine forests. If you'd rather skip city driving altogether, choose a host with RV delivery and meet the rig at your campground.
dot.ga.gov/DriveSmartWhat can I expect from campground amenities near Doraville?
Campgrounds around Doraville range from full-resort to back-to-nature, and most have what you need. Stone Mountain Campground offers full hookups (water, 30/50 amp electric, sewer), Wi-Fi, laundry, and a camp store. Sweetwater Creek State Park has electric and water sites plus a centralized dump station. McKinney Campground on Lake Allatoona offers electric hookups, a dump station, and lakefront access. For dumping tanks between trips, public dump stations are available at most state parks for a small fee, and you can refill freshwater at any campground spigot. Pro tip: pack a 25-foot freshwater hose and a 30-amp to 50-amp adapter so you're ready for any site configuration in Georgia.
gastateparks.org/CampingWhat's inside a typical RV rental in Doraville?
You'll be impressed by how much fits inside. Most motorhome rental Doraville options come fully equipped: a queen or king bed plus convertible dinette and bunks (sleeping 4 to 8), a kitchen with fridge/freezer, stove, microwave, and sink, a private bathroom with toilet and shower, roof-mounted air conditioning (essential in Georgia summers), propane heat, and seatbelted passenger seats. Many include a generator for boondocking, a flatscreen TV, and either a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot or instructions to tether your phone. Campervan rental Doraville options (Class B) are smaller and more nimble, perfect for couples exploring the Chattahoochee. Check each listing's amenity list and message the host if you need specifics like an outdoor shower or bike rack.
exploregeorgia.org/things-to-do/outdoors-nature/camping-rvingWhat add-ons and pickup options do Doraville hosts offer?
Doraville hosts make it easy to customize your trip. Common add-ons include linen and kitchen kits ($25 to $75), camp chairs and outdoor rugs, portable grills, generators, bike racks, and extra propane tanks. Many hosts offer delivery within metro Atlanta for a flat fee (typically $2 to $4 per mile from their location), with free delivery sometimes available within a small radius. Pickup is usually at the host's home or storage lot near Doraville, Dunwoody, or Chamblee, and takes 30 to 60 minutes for the walkthrough. Mileage policies vary, so check the listing for included miles per night and the cost of additional miles before booking, especially for longer Georgia road trips.
exploregeorgia.org/things-to-do/outdoors-nature/camping-rvingHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is handled securely through the RVezy platform, with no cash or side deals with the host. You pay the rental total at booking using a credit or debit card, and the charge is typically split into two installments for trips booked further out. A refundable security deposit is held on your card before pickup (commonly $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV value) and released after the trip once the host confirms the rig was returned in good shape. To avoid any deposit issues, take date-stamped photos of the interior, exterior, and fuel and propane levels at pickup and dropoff. Empty the tanks if your rental agreement requires it, and refuel to the level shown at pickup.
