Campgrounds near East Griffin
East Griffin sits in Spalding County, roughly 40 miles south of Atlanta and within an easy drive of two established Georgia state parks and several private RV parks. The area works well as a base for families who want a middle-Georgia location with quick I-75 access to both the metro and Macon.
Closest to town, Atlanta Motor Speedway offers on-site RV camping at its Hampton facility, useful for race weekends and for travelers who want full hookups near the interstate. Atlanta South RV Resort provides another nearby option for RVers looking for a private-park setting. Farther south, High Falls RV Park and Tiny Home Community sits close to High Falls State Park, which itself has campsites in the River campground along the Towaliga River.
Indian Springs State Park, one of the oldest state parks in the United States, rounds out the state-park options with sites around 105-acre McIntosh Lake. Together these locations cover most trip styles: race-weekend RV camping, riverside state-park loops, and full-hookup private resorts.
Things to do near East Griffin
Water and trails anchor most trips. At High Falls State Park, families can hike along the Towaliga River to the cascades and the ruins of an old hydroelectric power plant, with a seasonal swimming pool and boat rentals in warmer months. Indian Springs State Park adds mini golf near the springs, a small seasonal museum covering Creek Indian and CCC history, cottages, a swim area at McIntosh Lake, and a 3.25-mile multi-use trail connecting to the Dauset Trails nature center.
Fishing is a draw at both parks. High Falls is known for hybrid and white bass, while Indian Springs stocks McIntosh Lake and enforces a 10 HP boat limit. Race fans staying at Atlanta Motor Speedway have direct access to NASCAR weekends and other on-site events at the track.

Spring and fall are the practical sweet spots for the East Griffin area. From March through May, daytime highs generally climb from the mid-60s to the low 80s Fahrenheit, wildflowers bloom along the trails at Indian Springs and High Falls, and humidity stays lower than in summer. Fall carries similar temperatures with hardwood color through late October and into November.
Summer runs hot and humid, with July and August highs near 90°F and thunderstorms common. State-park pools, McIntosh Lake, and the Towaliga River all become the main relief. Weekends fill quickly at High Falls and Indian Springs because both parks pull weekend traffic from Atlanta and Macon, so advance booking matters most from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
Winter days are mild, with highs near the mid-50s and nights in the upper 30s. Campgrounds stay open year-round, though the swimming pool at High Falls and some seasonal facilities close in colder months. Hurricane remnants from the Gulf occasionally push heavy rain into the region in late summer and early fall.

Working with Rob was wonderful. We had a medical issue that required a shift in dates and possible postponement and he could not have been more accommodating. We are new to rv travel and he gave thorough walk through, let me record it, and was also very available via text as we had questions on the trip. The rv itself is older, which greatly helped with containing the price and Rob is generous with mileage limits. Despite an older model, everything is clean and in good working order. The beds were very comfortable. We loved getting to try out the rv life and Rob was the perfect host to let us do so.

Perfect size RV with an awesome host! We take a yearly RV camping trip with friends (12 years running). This was my second time renting from Rob and of all the hosts we have used, he is the best!!! Not only is he on top of everything, his RV has everything we need and is so easy to drive. Great experience from start to finish!

How to book
State-park sites at High Falls and Indian Springs are reserved through the Georgia State Parks reservation system, online or by phone, up to 13 months in advance, with Georgia residents able to book up to 14 months ahead. Weekend sites, especially in summer, tend to book out early because of the parks' proximity to both Atlanta and Macon. A daily ParkPass is required per vehicle and is charged only once per stay for overnight guests.
Atlanta Motor Speedway campground reservations are handled directly through the speedway's ticket office, with race weekends selling out well ahead of event dates. Private options such as Atlanta South RV Resort and High Falls RV Park and Tiny Home Community book directly through the properties. For any weekend arrival in peak months, reserving several weeks out is advisable.
What to expect
The state-park campgrounds run large, wooded loops with clean bathhouses, dump stations, and electric and water hookups on most sites. Full sewer hookups are limited, so many RVers plan to use the dump station on the way out. At High Falls, the River loop entry road is narrow and winding, so arriving before dark is easier for larger rigs.
Expect Georgia humidity from late spring through early fall, along with mosquitoes and, in warmer months, plentiful fireflies at dusk. Cell coverage is generally reliable across the area given proximity to I-75. Pets are welcome on leash at both state parks, though restrictions apply to some park buildings and cottages. Grocery runs, fuel, and restaurants are all within a short drive off I-75 exits near Jackson and Flovilla.
