Camping near Eastman, Georgia
Eastman sits in the heart of Middle Georgia and serves as the seat of Dodge County, a rural area of pine woods, farmland, and the Little Ocmulgee River corridor. RV renters use it as a quiet base between Macon and the South Georgia coast, with campgrounds close to town and a full-service state park about a half hour south.
Closest to the city, Hillside Family RV Park and 4 County RV Park and Camp Ground offer straightforward hookup sites geared to travelers passing through on US 341 and US 23. Little Ocmulgee State Park and Lodge, located north of McRae-Helena, sits on a 256-acre lake and includes a 60-room lodge and the 18-hole Wallace Adams Memorial Golf Course.
Smaller stops such as Starlit Hollow and Southern Trails RV Resort round out the options for renters who want quieter, more private settings. Together these parks cover the range from overnight highway stops to week-long lake stays.
Things to do around Eastman
Most trip itineraries center on Little Ocmulgee State Park and Lodge. The park lake supports fishing, and there is a small swimming beach plus a seasonal splash pad for kids. The 2.6-mile Oak Ridge Trail loops through the park, and rare species such as the indigo snake and the gopher tortoise may be spotted along the way.
Golfers can play the Wallace Adams Memorial Golf Course inside the state park or the Dodge County Golf Club closer to town. In Eastman itself, families visit the historic downtown and the Mr. Angel monument tied to the University of Georgia mascot. The Eastman-Dodge County Welcome Center is a useful first stop for maps and event listings.

Middle Georgia has a humid subtropical climate with short mild winters and long hot summers. Spring and fall are the most comfortable windows for RV travel, with daytime highs in the seventies and lower humidity than summer. Wildflowers and dogwoods peak from mid-March into April, and fall color in the oaks arrives late, usually November.
Summer daytime highs in July average around 93°F with overnight lows near 73°F, and afternoon thunderstorms are common. Shaded sites at Little Ocmulgee are in demand, and the park pool, splash pad, and lake beach are open for registered overnight guests. Biting insects are active from May through September.
Winters are mild but wet, with occasional freezes and rare snow. Many private RV parks in the area stay open year round, and February is a popular time for cool-weather camping without crowds. Tropical systems in the Atlantic can affect Middle Georgia from August through October, so check the forecast before booking those months.
How to book campgrounds near Eastman
Little Ocmulgee State Park and Lodge is managed and operated by the North Georgia Mountains Authority and Coral Hospitality, so lodge rooms and cabins are booked directly through the property while campsites are handled through the Georgia State Parks reservation system. Reservations can be made up to 13 months in advance, and Georgia residents may book up to 14 months out. The campground offers 54 sites for tents, trailers, and RVs, with water and electric hookups and a dump station on site.
Private parks in the area, including Hillside Family RV Park, 4 County RV Park and Camp Ground, Starlit Hollow, and Southern Trails RV Resort, generally take reservations directly by phone or through the operator's website. Book state park sites well ahead for spring weekends, holidays, and any date tied to a Wallace Adams golf event.
What to expect on the ground
Roads into Eastman are flat, two-lane, and easy to tow. US 23, US 341, and US 441 are the main approaches, and there are no mountain grades or narrow passes in this part of Georgia. Fuel, groceries, and RV supplies are available in Eastman and McRae-Helena.
The Little Ocmulgee campground is nestled among live oaks and Spanish moss, which means good shade but also some tree litter and occasionally uneven pads that may need leveling blocks. Sites include both pull-through and back-in options with 30/50 amp electrical hookups, so confirm service when booking a larger rig. Cell coverage is generally reliable near town and adequate at the state park.
Expect mosquitoes, gnats, and ticks in the warmer months, and watch for gopher tortoise burrows near trails. Alligators are present in local waterways, so keep pets leashed near the lake edge.

gastateparks.org/LittleOcmulgeeWhen is the best time of year to rent an RV in Eastman?

March through May brings dogwoods, azaleas, and Georgia's wildflower bloom, while October and November deliver crisp mornings perfect for campfires. Summer (June through August) is hot and humid with highs in the low 90s and frequent afternoon thunderstorms, so look for RVs with strong air conditioning and shaded campsites. Winter is mild (highs in the 55 to 65 range, lows rarely below freezing), making it a quiet, lower-cost season to rent an RV in Eastman, GA without crowds.
weather.gov/ffc/I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay driving in Eastman?
You'll do great: Eastman is one of the friendliest places in Georgia to learn. Highways like US-23, US-341, and GA-87 are wide, flat, and lightly trafficked compared to Atlanta or Savannah, giving first-time drivers room to get comfortable. Every RVezy host provides a hands-on orientation at pickup covering driving, leveling, hookups, and tank dumping, so you're never left guessing. If you're nervous, choose a smaller Class C motorhome rental in Eastman or a campervan rental Eastman host, which drive almost like an oversized van. You can also message the host through RVezy beforehand with any questions, most reply within hours and love helping first-timers feel ready.
dot.ga.gov/What happens if something breaks down during my trip?
You're covered around the clock. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so if you get a flat tire on US-341, a dead battery at Little Ocmulgee, or any mechanical hiccup along the way, one phone call gets help dispatched to your location. Pro tip: snap a quick photo of the RV's VIN, plate, and propane tank locations at pickup, it makes any roadside call faster and gets you back to your Georgia adventure sooner.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Eastman RV rental to Florida or other states?

A 500-mile loop to Savannah and back usually costs around $180 to $260 in fuel at current prices. Fill up in Eastman or Hawkinsville before heading into more remote areas where stations are spaced farther apart.

help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhat's a local insider tip for an Eastman RV trip?
Here's something many visitors miss: Eastman is the birthplace of Stuckey's, the iconic pecan-roll roadside chain founded here in 1937, and the town hosts small-town events year-round around the historic courthouse square. Pair that with a sunrise paddle on the Ocmulgee River and dinner at one of Eastman's family-run BBQ spots. For a quieter alternative to Little Ocmulgee on busy weekends, head about 50 minutes southeast to General Coffee State Park, where wooded sites along Seventeen Mile Creek give your campervan rental Eastman experience a true South Georgia feel that bigger destinations can't match.
