Campgrounds and RV parks near Eatonton, GA

Water recreation is the main draw. Both lakes support fishing for largemouth bass, crappie, catfish, hybrids, and stripers, along with boating, kayaking, and swimming at designated beaches. Lawrence Shoals Park by Georgia Power has white sand swim beaches, boat docks reserved for campers, and trails linking the beach and guest house. Old Salem Park by Georgia Power adds a swimming beach, playground, boat ramp, and pavilion for group gatherings. Little River Park Campground and Marina runs an on-site marina with docks, gas pumps, and pontoon rentals. North Shore Landing Resort adds pool and beach access on Lake Oconee. Off the water, families can visit the Uncle Remus Museum in downtown Eatonton and explore the historic square. The Twin Bridges Trail near Lake Sinclair adds a short hiking option.

The Georgia Power campgrounds on Lake Oconee follow a shoulder calendar: Lawrence Shoals Park by Georgia Power and Old Salem Park by Georgia Power close for camping December 1 through February 28 and reopen March 1. Their boat ramps remain open year round for day use. The U.S. Forest Service campground at Lake Sinclair Recreation Area is open year round on a first-come, first-served basis. Spring and early summer bring warm days, blooming hardwoods, and the busiest weekends at the Georgia Power parks. Summer heat and humidity are consistent, with July highs averaging around 91F and afternoon thunderstorms common. Water levels remain steady since both lakes are managed reservoirs. Fall carries mild temperatures and lower rainfall into November, making October a strong window for RV travel before the Georgia Power lake parks close. Winter is cool but rarely severe, and Little River Park Campground and Marina and North Shore Landing Resort stay open when the Georgia Power sites shut down.

Hookup levels vary by property. Little River Park Campground and Marina offers 130 full-hookup RV sites with water, sewer, cable TV, and 30/50-amp service, including 39 waterfront back-in sites and 27 interior pull-throughs. Lawrence Shoals Park by Georgia Power provides water and electric hookups, hot showers, laundry, and an RV dump station. Old Salem Park by Georgia Power adds a swim beach, playground, and dump access. The Lake Sinclair national forest campground is more rustic, with limited hookups in Loop A and primitive sites in the remaining loops. Cell service can be spotty inside the forest loops. Quiet hours generally run 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. at both Georgia Power and Forest Service sites. RV renters should verify site length limits, since some lakefront pads accommodate rigs up to 60 feet while forest loops fit smaller units better.
