Campgrounds and RV parks near Hardwick, GA

Hardwick sits in Baldwin County, Georgia, immediately south of Milledgeville along the Oconee River corridor. It is an unincorporated community within the Milledgeville area, roughly 30 miles east of Macon and about 90 miles southeast of Atlanta. Camping in the region centers on two reservoirs, Lake Sinclair just to the north and Lake Oconee farther upstream, both created by Georgia Power dams on the Oconee River. Most RV options within a short drive fall into two categories: private RV parks with full hookups, and Georgia Power lake parks with water and electric sites. Scenic Mountain RV Resort and Sanwar RV Resort operate on the private side, while Little River Park Campground and Marina serves Lake Sinclair. Lawrence Shoals Park by Georgia Power and Old Salem Park by Georgia Power sit on Lake Oconee and are managed directly by the utility. The mix suits travelers balancing shore-based recreation with easy access to historic downtown Milledgeville, the Central State Hospital grounds, and the Oconee River Greenway.

Georgia Power runs its own reservation system for its lake campgrounds, separate from Recreation.gov and Reserve America. Sites at Lawrence Shoals Park by Georgia Power and Old Salem Park by Georgia Power are booked through the Georgia Power Lakes reservation portal at reservations.gplakes.com, with customer support reachable by phone. Because both close from December 1 through February 28, spring and summer weekends fill quickly once bookings open. Private parks are booked directly. Scenic Mountain RV Resort, Little River Park Campground and Marina, and Sanwar RV Resort each handle their own reservations by website or phone. For summer holiday weekends and bass tournament dates on Lake Sinclair, booking several weeks in advance is advisable, particularly for waterfront sites and pull-through spots that fit larger rigs.
