Campgrounds and RV parks near Milledgeville, GA

Milledgeville sits in central Georgia's Piedmont, roughly 30 miles northeast of Macon and about 90 miles southeast of Atlanta. RV travelers use the town as a base for two large reservoirs: Lake Sinclair, a 15,330-acre lake created when Georgia Power impounded the Oconee River in 1953, and Lake Oconee, a larger reservoir downstream that draws heavy summer boat traffic. Campground options range from full-hookup resorts to lakefront public parks. Scenic Mountain RV Resort welcomes all rig sizes and operates year-round. Little River Park Campground and Marina is a lakeside facility on Lake Sinclair, and Sanwar RV Resort adds another private option in the area. On Lake Oconee, Georgia Power operates Lawrence Shoals Park and Old Salem Park, both with water and electric hookups, swimming beaches, and boat ramps. The Oconee National Forest also runs the seasonal Lake Sinclair Recreation Area nearby. The mix suits families who want lake access, plus travelers looking for a quiet base to explore Milledgeville's antebellum downtown and the surrounding national forest.

Georgia Power parks on Lake Oconee use a single reservation system. Lawrence Shoals Park by Georgia Power and Old Salem Park by Georgia Power are both bookable through the Georgia Power lakes reservation portal at reservations.gplakes.com, or by phone at 855-607-6462. Not all sites sit directly on the water, so early booking helps secure lakefront. Lake Sinclair Recreation Area operates on a first-come, first-served basis for its camping sites, including the limited number of RV spots with electrical hookups, so arrival timing matters more than a reservation window there. Private options, Scenic Mountain RV Resort, Little River Park Campground and Marina, and Sanwar RV Resort, book directly with each property. For holiday weekends, spring, and peak summer, plan to book weeks in advance. Confirm rig-length limits and hookup type at booking.
