Campgrounds and RV parks near Mount Airy, GA

Mount Airy sits in Habersham County in northeast Georgia, on the southern edge of the Blue Ridge foothills and within a short drive of the Chattahoochee National Forest, several Georgia Power reservoirs, and one of the state's most-visited state parks. The area works well as a base for RV travelers heading to Tallulah Gorge State Park, which protects a canyon that plunges nearly 1,000 feet through quartzite rock and creates six waterfalls along the Tallulah River. Campground options within roughly a half-hour of town range from primitive lakeside sites on Lake Yonah, a reservoir on the Tugaloo River owned and operated by Georgia Power, to full-hookup state park sites. Grove River Ranch, LLC - Equestrian Center and Retreat, Lake Yonah Par by Georgia Power, Tugalo Park by Georgia Power, Tallulah Gorge State Park, and Terrora by Georgia Power are the closest listed options, giving RV renters a mix of primitive lakeside camping, hookup sites, and horse-friendly acreage. Most trips through Mount Airy pair one of these campgrounds with day trips to waterfalls, the gorge rim, or Lake Hartwell farther east.

State park sites at Tallulah Gorge are booked through the Georgia State Parks system. The campground is open year-round, and reservations are available through ReserveAmerica up to 13 months in advance. The campground office can be reached by phone at 706-754-7979, and the central reservations line is 800-864-7275. Overnight guests pay the daily ParkPass fee only once per vehicle during their stay regardless of duration, and parking is not included with the reservation. Georgia Power campgrounds, including Lake Yonah Par, Tugalo Park, and Terrora, use a separate system. Campers select a location and dates through the Georgia Power reservation site, which displays availability and site details. Grove River Ranch is a private property and is booked directly with the operator.
