Campgrounds near Soperton, Georgia
Soperton sits in Treutlen County in south central Georgia, along the I-16 corridor between Macon and Savannah. The town is small and rural, surrounded by pine forest, farmland, and the Oconee and Ohoopee river drainages. Most RV travelers use Soperton as a quiet base for exploring the region rather than as a destination in itself.
Options close to town lean toward small, privately run parks with full hookups. Runway Retreat RV Resort and D&D Outdoor Retreat cater to travelers who want easy interstate access, while Hidden Forest RV Club and Starlit Hollow offer wooded, lower-density stays. For a full state park experience with a lake, pool, and golf, Little Ocmulgee State Park and Lodge covers about 1,360 acres a short drive south near McRae-Helena.
The area works well for families looking for a slower pace, and for travelers routing between coastal Georgia and central Georgia who need a mid-trip stop with dependable hookups.
Things to do near Soperton
Little Ocmulgee State Park is the main draw. The campground sits next to a 265-acre lake that supports fishing, swimming, and paddling, and the park has a swimming area, a splash pad for kids, and a golf course that draw repeat visitors. A 2.6-mile hiking trail makes its way through the park, and shorter paths wind through cypress and pine.
Anglers target largemouth bass, bream, and crappie on the lake, and the Oconee and Ohoopee rivers add paddling and bank fishing options. The 18-hole golf course inside the state park is open to the public.
Beyond the park, day trips reach Vidalia for sweet-onion country, Dublin for shopping and dining, and Savannah about two hours east for a full day out.
