Campgrounds and RV parks near Whitesburg, GA

Whitesburg sits in Carroll County in west-central Georgia, about 45 minutes southwest of Atlanta along the Chattahoochee River. The area mixes Piedmont forest, river gorges, and small-town crossroads, with most camping concentrated within a 30-mile radius of town. RV travelers typically base out of Whitesburg to reach the river, West Point Lake, and the western suburbs of metro Atlanta without staying inside the city itself. Chattahoochee Bend State Park, just outside town, is the largest public option and one of Georgia's biggest state parks at roughly 2,910 acres. Banning Mills RV Park serves campers headed for the Snake Creek Gorge adventure resort. Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park™ Camp-Resort: Bremen sits roughly 30 minutes west and leans family-focused. Sweetwater Creek RV Reserve is positioned closer to the Sweetwater Creek State Park area east of Whitesburg, and Highland Marina Resort sits on West Point Lake to the south. Each draws a slightly different crowd, from full-hookup big-rig travelers to tent-and-platform campers.

Chattahoochee Bend State Park is reserved through the Georgia State Parks system on ReserveAmerica, which handles Georgia DNR campsites, cottages, and platform sites. A daily ParkPass is required for parking and is paid once per vehicle for the length of an overnight stay. Reservations open up to 13 months in advance for out-of-state visitors and 14 months in advance for Georgia residents, and weekends from April through October should be booked as early as possible. Private parks set their own rules. Banning Mills RV Park is operated by Historic Banning Mills and currently limits new reservations to long-term monthly stays due to limited space, so call ahead before planning a short visit. Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park™ Camp-Resort: Bremen, Sweetwater Creek RV Reserve, and Highland Marina Resort book directly through their own websites or by phone, with holiday weekends often filling first.
