Ocean Pointe is a residential community in the ʻEwa District on the leeward side of Oʻahu, about fifteen miles from Honolulu. The area sits on the dry ʻEwa Plain at low elevation, roughly four miles from Kapolei and close to Ewa Beach, Kalaeloa, and the Hoakalei resort area. RV renters use it as a base for the south and west shores of the island while remaining within reach of Honolulu, Pearl Harbor, and Daniel K. Inouye International Airport. Oʻahu has very few drive-in RV campgrounds, and there is no full-hookup park inside Ocean Pointe itself. Most overnight camping happens at county beach parks, state recreation areas, or private retreat properties on the North Shore and windward coast, typically reached by a thirty to seventy minute drive from Ocean Pointe. Camp Mokule‘ia, on the North Shore near Waialua, is the closest established campground that regularly accepts tent campers and small campervans. It sits directly on a quiet stretch of the Mokuleʻia coast and offers a reservable, gated alternative to the county beach-park permit system used elsewhere on the island.

There is no single reservation portal for camping on Oʻahu. State parks such as Keaīwa Heiau, Sand Island, Kahana, and Malaekahana Section II are booked through the Hawaiʻi Department of Land and Natural Resources system, which is transitioning to explore.ehawaii.gov and opens Oʻahu sites thirty days in advance. Honolulu County beach-park campsites use a separate City and County of Honolulu permit system, generally issued with a mid-week closure for maintenance. Permits open a set number of days ahead and popular windward sites fill quickly. Camp Mokule‘ia takes bookings directly through a reservation request form on its own website, with staff following up to confirm, and also lists availability on Campspot. Book summer weekends and holiday periods several months out.
