Roads are generally flat and rig-friendly, though the last mile into some parks includes narrow county roads, so check routing for taller Class A motorhomes. Hookup levels vary widely. Private resorts like O'Connell's, King's Camp, and Mendota Hills offer a mix of full-hookup, electric, and rustic sites and can accommodate larger rigs. Lowden State Park's Class A loop provides electric with a central shower building and a sanitary dump station, while its Class B/S sites have shower access without electric and Class D sites are primitive. Cell coverage can be inconsistent inside wooded state parks. Bring bug spray from May through September and pack layers for cool evenings even in midsummer.
